Adding a NetApp filer to a Samba Controlled Domain
I am attempting to add a NetApp filer to a Samba Controlled Domain. Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? Googleing for information yielded some indication that some kind of RPC bug related to netapp was fixed in 2.2.2 but I couldn't find anything relating to adding a netapp to a domain. I am willing to provide anything else anyone else might want but don't want to clutter up

Samba error message
Guys, I'm running Samba 2.0.7 on a Solaris 7 box and in the log.nmb I'm getting this error when trying to get a machine to join the domain. There is a quad ethernet adapter in the client machine, however I'm not using it. Can someone explain the below error or tell me why it's showing up? Thanks, PhilY tail -f log.nmb [2001/01/02 11:50:20, 1]

Samba as AD controller and local auth
Hello all, I have been breaking my head about this for several days now - what seems to be something “easy” to do (or at least I suppose others would also encounter this problem) simply does not work: I am running a Samba Active Directory Domain Controller on my Synology NAS. Since I installed and set up the AD DC, local user authentication for shares is not working anymore. Before: Simple Samba

Stepwise logistic discrimination - II
I apologise for writing again about the problem with using stepAIC + multinom, but I think the reason why I had it in the first place is perhaps there may be a bug in either stepAIC or multinom. Just to repeat the problem, I have 126 variables and 99 cases. I don't know if the large number of variables could be the problem. Of couse the reason for doing a stepwise method is to reduce this

Hi All, I'm trying to migrate from an NT4 domain to samba-3... sorry this is so long... when I run the "net rpc vampire" I get errors for users and machines in uppercase or contain uppercase chars. I'm in a test env before I go live! I'm on a gentoo distro w/ shadow. useradd FOO errors, this might be the culprit... I set up some dummy accts and made them members of

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from the machine by typing apt-get remove --purge samba I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed

samba, RedHat and Windows XP Home
Howdy. I'm running samba-3.0.2-2 (from the binaries on samba.org) on a RedHat 9 box with kernel 2.4.20-28.9. I can access shares from my Windows XP Home box, but the performance isn't very good. When I looked into this, I discovered that apparently the connections are getting dropped, over and over again, which causes a lot more work, I'm sure. Here's a snippet from my main

Seamless update from Samba 2 to Samba 3 on a new server
Hi, I'm new to the list, I hope i'm posting at the right place ;) I'm having a hard time trying to update and to move my Samba 2.2 PDC to a new Debian server. Currently, the PDC is using Samba 2.2.8 on a Solaris Server. My goal is to move it to another computer, and to update it to a newer version (3.0.24) This must be fully transparent for the users, since I have no time to

net getlocalsid problem ???
Hi List, I'm currently migrating from win2000 to linux ( samba 3.0.10-1.4E ). Domain = TESTDOMAIN Windows Box Name = TESTPDC Linux Box = LINUXPDC I have joined the windows pdc from the linux box. Next I use: net getsid -S TESTPDC -W TESTDOMAIN which puts my SID in secrets.tdb. All is fine here. Next I use net getlocalsid which gives me an error so I use net getlocalsid TESTDOMAIN

idmap_rid: could not convert sid to uid
Hello, I am trying (again) to get samba+winbind working, with the idmap_rid backend. I am using a freshly installed samba server and client machine, with samba-3.0.13. Most things seem to work, but when I try to get the uid's for the samba users, I run into problems. # net rpc join Password: ******** Joined domain IUATST4W. # net rpc testjoin Join to 'IUATST4W' is OK #

Correct behavior for home drives?????
Hello all, In getting ready to roll out samba 3, I came across some behavior that may or may not be a bug. My clients are mixed win98 / winxp. Roaming is enabled as we frequently have interns that do not have a dedicated computer. When an intern logs into an xp machine and saves a file to their home drive (H:), and then has to log into a 98 machine, everything is fine, the file is

Unable to map SID to uid or gid...
Hi. I have a problem with mapping SIDs to uids in Samba 2.2.6pre2. I am using Mandrake linux 8.2 with acls, and samba acting as PDC on my local net. My problem is what when I viewing permissions on my test WinXP box, it shows to me SIDs, but not a user or group, and of cource everyone... For example, I created user "test" on my linux box and added him to smbpasswd. Then, when I logon

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi, I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible? Details ------- I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP clients could join and login OK. Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,

idmap backend problems
Hello, I am trying out Samba + Winbind + NSS + CIFS in a test environment, which currently consists of a PDC, a fileserver, and a client, all with samba 3.0.11 I got everything working more or less, but noticed that the uid's are different on the fileserver and on the client (resulting in erroneous file ownership on the cifs mount). This is also very obvious when doing a getent passwd. The
