Redhat firewall problem...
I've just tried setting up a Shrike (9) version of Redhat. Using the medium settings of lokkit, then adding manually accept commands for ports 137/udp 138/udp, 139/tcp and 445/tcp, I thought I should have been ready to go. This isn't the case, however. I know it's not the smb.conf settup because when I kill iptables samba works. When iptables IS running however, it will respond

[PATCH] Fix for YUV4MPEG support in encoder_example
As was briefly discussed on IRC, ffmpeg and mplayer currently output two somewhat incompatible YUV4MPEG streams. This meant that encoder_example could take input from mplayer, but not ffmpeg or movtoy4m (a QuickTime->Y4M tool). This is a patch that fixes this issue and should allow encoder_example to take input from either format: diff -urd xiph-cvs/theora/examples/encoder_example.c

Problem of accessing Redhat 7.3 from Win2K.
Hi there, I am new to samba server. I just installed the samba suite (samba, samba-common, samba-client) for Redhat 7.3. After started samba server, I found there is no way for me to access the Redhat machine from Win2K. From the Win2K machine, I can see the linux machine name under folder 'My network places' , but I always get the error message " \\machine_name is not accessible.

Newbie Configuration of 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0
I have installed Samba with a depot I downloaded from the HP-UX Porting and Archive Center. We have an intranet site on an HP-UX 11.0 box, and ultimately, my goal is to have links on the Web pages open up files (Word docs, etc.) on various Windows machines (XP, 2000, NT). I'm having difficulty getting Samba to work at all. I've scoured past newsgroup posts, and I'm not finding

Win 2000 & XP Printer problem
I'm running Samba 2.2.5 on HP-UX 10.20. I've recently started adding WinXP (and 2000) clients to my network. Here's my issue: (It seems to effect both the XP & 2000 machines) I installed a WinXP machine on the network. I was able to add a bunch of samba-networked printers to the Xp machine. I recently added 2 new printers to the network. I added the printer names to my

bitstream versioning
as per yesterday's discussion at #theora -- It has been suggested that we devise a method such that we will be able to add certain features to the bitstream (interlace, exotic color subsampling, clip length flag for download, etc), in such a way as to not obsolete streams encoded previously. Rillian's suggestion, which is pretty much standard practice, is to add a bitstream revision

resolution issues
just added to the WIKI: * Ideas with some concensus after discussion on IRC, it was provisionally agreed (by those present at the time) that Theora should support arbitrary pixel sizes (presently it is limited to multiples of 16 both horizontally and vertically). It is felt that this can be achieved with minimal pain by adding four values to the page header, immediately following the present

smbclient (Samba 4.9.4) "Unable to initialize messaging context"?
Sambadevs, I don't know if this is a bug or just a spurious error message when using smbclient (on a standalone config), but checking smbclient, I get: 02:47 2pi:~> smbclient -U% -Llocalhost Unable to initialize messaging context Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- samba Disk 2pi - Law IPC$ IPC

Proof of Concept
Hi, So it took a little while to get here but VP3 through ffmpeg is finally starting to achieve viewable results. It partially works right now. Keyframes only. And monochrome. Oh, and the picture is upside down (something I did not realize about VP3 until I let it fly just now). Anyway, here is a picture of ffmpeg's VP3 decoder in action using xine:

SMP/PCMCIA

samba 3.5.6 - ''smbclient -U% -Llocalhost' results in error - using hostname works fine, new feature?
Guys, I have probably missed an announcement or overlooked something in a changelog, but I just want to confirm what I'm seeing is expected behavior. I run samba in standalone mode and I have always checked operation with smbclient -U% -Llocalhost Now the faithful command returns an error: Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME) Simply using the hostname

How to iterate over an array? (with a counter)
Given an array, I''d like to iterate over it with a counter to produce something like this from a template: foo.0 = ARRAYVALUE0 foo.1 = ARRAYVALUE1 foo.2 = ARRAYVALUE2 (where ARRAYVALUEn is replaced by the value, and the foo.n is incremented for each value) The puppet templates support iteration, but I don''t see how to also increment a counter to get the behaviour above? Is

WinNY and Wine
Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out how to run Winny2b71 with wine-20050111-r1 on 2005.0 Gentoo Linux with kernel 2.6.11 r11 (I thought the version info might be helpful). The result is nothing-- no error message, nothing loads, nothing flashes. I have the program installed in /root/.wine/Apps/Winny2, and I use the appropriate ' wine "[path]" ' command to execute the

Tracking Traffic By Port or Process?
Does anyone know of a way to track TCP/IP traffic by TCP/UDP port and/or by process/daemon with CentOS? I know a variety of ways to track it in total (e.g., ifInOctets & ifOutOctets with SNMP), but I'm not sure how to be approach seeing traffic by application, port, or process. One option would be to write something that would sift through different stuff for each daemon (for example,
