Changing Domains from NT4 / AD 2000
Hello all.
AIX 4.3.3 / Samba 2.0.6 / Production NT4.0 domain
Security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = yes
update encrypted = yes
Action: Moving from NT4.0 domain called nt40 to AD 2000 Domain called ad-domain
Problem: Users that have been migrated to ad-domain cannot authenticate to AIX SAMBA shares . . . the AIX SAMBA server is still part of the nt40 domain.
Explanation: I can however, map /

NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_GROUP when attempting to connect
Hi,
I'm attempting to get my server set up to share out files using Active
Directory authentication. I also have winbind set up for shell logins
to the server. That part works fine, but when I attempt to connect to a
samba share with smbclient, I get rejected with "session setup failed:
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE".
I did some searching and found others with similar issues, and I

Hi,
First off, I apologize if this email goes through twice. I sent it
about an hour ago, but it appears to have never made it to the list, so
I'm sending again.

Memory leak in winbindd
I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on NetBSD. I've been having an annoying
problem with winbindd dying inexplicably. I finally found a test that
seems to (eventually) kill it:
while wbinfo -t > /dev/null; do /usr/bin/true; done
The problem is a memory leak in winbindd. Actually, wbinfo -t will
still work, but wbinfo -u doesn't (response.extra_data is always null).

pdc+ldap newly created users can't log in
I am facing a very strange problem with samba running as PDC and using
LDAP. The new users that I create using smbldap-tools aren't able to log
in, but they can browse shares on the server.
I had the problem with samba 2.2 and hoped it would be solved with 3.0.
I spent two days testing without success even with samba 3.0.2pre1.
In the log I can't see anything wrong : it says "sam

AW: recycle under samba-3.0.0beta2-1 - supplement
Denis,
I have checked this and verify that this is a bug. You can track the
progress towards fixing this from https://bugzilla.samba.org as bug #210.
Thanks for the feedback.

I need large file support... Do you know of a patch for the newer sambas

I have a samba-2.2.5-1.i386.rpm but then I have to patch the kernel...

Tar Failures Using smbclient from Samba 3.0.0beta2
I was trying to improve the performance of BackupPC
http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/, which uses smbclient to connect to
Windows systems to backup Windows desktop systems. I'm currently
running Samba 2.2.8a on a fairly beefy Solaris 9 system and only
getting 200-700 KB/sec from the Windows clients. The 700 KB/sec is when

W2k/w98 don't see printers on samba-3.0.0beta2/3 in "Add Printer" dialogue
Hello,
I've tried both samba-3.0.0beta2 and beta3 but
both give me the same problem.
When on a windows dekstop and trying to add
a printer with samba as the printserver , the
printers exported by the samba server are not
seen by the windows "add printer dialogue" e.g.:
relevant part of smb.conf:

Minor probs after upgrade to 3.0.0beta2
Firstly, I am running beta2 as AD member. Auth through Winbind.
Upgrading from beta1 to beta2 using RPM on RH 9 I noticed that Winbind will
not start and smb will not stop using Init scripts. Seems to me RH9
/etc/init.d/winbind need the "winbind uid" parameter ? Here is the
/var/log/samba/log.winbind output.
