Windows 2000 SP2 WINS server<--- vpn ---> Samba 2.0.10 WINS server
RedHat 7.1 running FreeS/WAN and Samba 2.0.10
connects to a DHCP Win2k server box using ipsec. At first I was
implementing Samba 2.0.7 as a WINS server and was encountering a problem
where 'smbclient -M W2kserver' and 'smbclient -L W2kserver' (where W2kserver
is netbios name of w2k box) would give me Win2k side server stats/send
message to win2k box, but I could not ping

Migrating files with ACLS and Share properties

I could'nt find specific info ion the subject on google, and I'm not
sure if the list is appropriated, but,
I need to migrate a complete directory-tree from one w2k server to 1st
another w2kserver, an then, to a Samba Server (still to be installed).
The biggest problem is, if I just copy the directory, I will loose all
info over users and permissions. I will also loose the

Interdomain Trust between Samba3 and 2000 AD
I am having some trouble creating a two-way domain trust account
between Samba3 and Windows 2000 Server.
The Windows 2000 server is an AD domain controller, and my Samba 3
server has an LDAP backend and is running on Ubuntu 9.04 64bit. Samba
3 is acting as the WINS server, and the Windows server has been
pointed to the samba server for WINS in the TCP/IP settings on the
network adapter.

mount a share on a W2k server
Hi everybody,
excuse me when I ask something maybe 100 times discussed in this
newsgroup, I try to mount a share on a W2k server box with samba (from
a Fedora 2.6.5 machine) without success. Doing the same with a NT
Server machine in the same LAN works perfectly. It seems that it's
a problem of the password (encryption ?? digitally sign communications
are disabled !!).

file creation mode is not obeyed
Samba 3.0.26a
OpenSuse 10.3
In samba.conf the default file creation mode is set to 775 (group write).
This mode is not followed or established when a domain user creates a file.
It is not group writable.

I connect my homedir from the testserver and start Lotus Notes.
Lotus Notes is infamous for it's sensitivity for 'non-optimal' network
connections. Notes tries to lock certain files and complains immediately if
that fails.
