German codepage and Samba3.0alpha20
Hi there, Greetings from Vienna :) About 2 weeks ago I tried - waiting anxiously for group mapping support which isn't available yet on the 2.2.x versions and won't ever be - the 3.0a20 version. Everything fine, I could join the domain as non-root member of the windows "domain admins" group, could assign local power user privilege to domain users as expected (with

Windows XP logon problems (samba 3.0alpha22)
When I try to logon to my windows XP box I get the following error message from windows: Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security.

ProgressDialog on WindowsXP
Hi all, I''ve been trying to figure this out on my own, but if the project is headed to alpha, it should probably be resolved before that. Basically, ProgressDialog doesn''t show up at all AFAICT. The Gauge control works fine, but in the controls example as well as in a small test app, I can''t get the ProgressDialog to appear. --Mark Ping

Wrong charset when mounting WindowsXP shares
Hello, I don't seem to be able to mount a WindowsXP share with smbmount and get the correct charset. From what I understand Win2000/XP use UTF-8 for SMB shares, so I tried to mount with -o iocharset=utf8 but it did not make any difference. All extended characters are messed up or truncated. Here is what I found out using filenames with a '?': When I mount a

tinc on windowsxp: success :-)
Well, its not a port of tinc to windows, but I am successfully using tinc on my Windows XP box at work to allow it to communicate directly with the machines on my home LAN (which have private IPs behind NAT). The problem: no port of tun/tap to windows. so no virtual ethernet driver. The solution: VMWare Workstation VMWare comes with a virtual ethernet driver and has a very flexible virtual
