Add Machine Failed
I know I am getting tiresome to this list, but I can't see what I am doing
wrong, which is obviously something. I am new to samba as far as setting
it up as a PDC. I am not having trouble accessing sanba shares when I set
my computer to be part of a workgroup, but when I try to configure samba
server as a PDC, i get the following message:

add user script w/ idealx perl script (ldap)
Dear samba guru,
I have a little bug i can't solve. It is pretty misterious to me,
must be a problem how samba execute the add user script. Now here
is the situation. I've compiled samba 2.2.4 with ldap 2.0.23 to run
as PDC with win2k workstations. Everything works as expected except
the add user script to add workstation automaticly to the domain.

I just ran across this myself. I guess I dont understand why there
needs to be machine names in /etc/passwd if you are storing everything
in LDAP. Am I missing a configuration option here? Can one of you
samba geniuses point me in the right direction please?
Thank you!

Batch computer account creation
I'm looking for a way to batch create a list of computers accounts in
Active directroy running on Windows 2000 PDC.
I tried to use perl ldap to create those objects but I didn't manage
to set the sAMAccountType to "805306369" ( apparently this is a read
only auto generated value)
Is there any way to do that under Linux ?
Thanks,

Adding a machine; I think I am onto something
Parameters are:
Samba 2.2.7a PDC setup with LDAP includeing posix authentication for Linux.
OK, the tutorial I've based my setup on is the Mandrake tutorial found
at http://www.mandrakesecure.net/en/docs/ldap-auth.php
Works great for autenticateing Linux from LDAP but it is really sparse
on the Samba side of things. Esepcially when it comes to adding machine
trust accounts.
So anyway I

failes replication ldap, error SPN
Good afternoon.
how to overcome the problem,
samba creates an SPN in the format computer_name.example.com (computer name in lower case) and Windows registers as CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com (computer name
in uppercase).
When synchronizing in the direction of Samba, 2 SPN entries appear
computer_name.example.com
CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com
And on the windows side, there is a replication error, since by

AW: LDAP + SAMBA...about to give up...
I think "root" and/or the SID 1000/1001 is the problem.
Try to use the LDAP-User "administrator" with SambaSID = S-1-5-...-500 and
SambaPrimaryGroupSID = S-1-5-...-512.

Samba BDC in the same subnet not getting connection requests
Hi,
I have a Samba 3 PDC running with around 20 Windows XP/2K clients. The
PDC and the clients are in different subnets. I recently decided to add
a Samba 3 BDC in the same subnet as the clients, to give some failover
and also to reduce across-switch traffic.
After creating the BDC, I restarted one of the clients but don't see it
establishing connection with the BDC, instead it connects as

Hi,
Maybe you can help me.
Im trying to join one NT Server 4.0 Remote Access Server to a samba PDC
(2.2.2) Domain so that the users who make dial-up connections can be
validated on this domain. The Windows NT Server (RAS) is joining to the
domain but the users who trying to make a dial-in connection receive a
message saying that they not have permission to make a dial in connection.
