Bonding performance question
I have a Dell server with four bonded, gigabit interfaces. Bonding mode is
802.3ad, xmit_hash_policy=layer3+4. When testing this setup with iperf,
I never get more than a total of about 3Gbps throughput. Is there anything
to tweak to get better throughput? Or am I running into other limits (e.g.
was reading about tcp retransmit limits for mode 0).
The iperf test was run with iperf -s on the

Memory Problem
Dear all,
I am having a memory problem when analyzing a rather large data set with
nested factors in R.
The model is of the form X~A*B*(C/D/F) A,B,C,D,F being the independent
variables some of which are nested.
The problem occurs when using aov but also when using glm or lme.
In particular I get the following response,
Error: cannot allocate vector of size 1.6 Gb

Question on Quad Opteron HP DL 585
Hi,
I have a HP DL 585 server with Quad Opteron processors and 32 Gbytes of
RAM.
I would like to know whether CentOS 3.5 x86_64 will recognize all 4 CPUs
and 32 Gbytes of RAM.
I will also running EDA tools like PriteTime, and Magma on this server.
Does CentOS has any issues
with these tools?
your help on this question is appreciated.
Thanks
Siva.

BitTorrent
It seems like more efficient file transfer technology may be about as
important to bringing video production and distribution to the masses as more
efficient video compression.
I'm wondering how much of a difference BitTorrent made in the downloads of the
theora sample files. Is there a record of the number of downloads that were
made, and the number of Gbytes that were sent from the server

pseudo R-squared with likfit (geoR)
We want to compute a pseudo R-squared for a model whose parameter
estimation was based on maximum likelihood (function likfit, package geoR).
I tried to compute the R2 proposed by Maddala (1983) which compare the
maximized likelihood for the model without any predictor and the
maximized likelihood for the model with all predictors.
I got a really low value (0,01%). Did I miss something? Are

Memory usage in R grows considerably while calculating word frequencies
I am working with some large text files (up to 16 GBytes). I am interested
in extracting the words and counting each time each word appears in the
text. I have written a very simple R program by following some suggestions
and examples I found online.
If my input file is 1 GByte, I see that R uses up to 11 GBytes of memory
when executing the program on
a 64-bit system running CentOS 6.3. Why is

Can R handle large dataset?
Hello,
I am new to R, can anyone give me an idea of how R handle a large dataset
(e.g. couple of Gbytes)? Thanks a lot!

NFS Client with quota
Thanks Patrick.
For Solaris, quota can be set when mounting from NFS client.
There is a transition from Solaris to CentOS 6 this time.
Therefore, quota setting is required for NFS mounting
from CentOS 6 as with Solaris.
Is it still impossible for CentOS 6?

legend of maps generated by function symbols
I generated maps with the function symbols (graphics). These are basic
maps generated with :
symbols(x,y,circles=myvariable)
where x et y are spatial coordinates corresponding to replicates of
"myvariable".
I would associate legend to this kind of maps, is it possible?
Regards,
Marion.

Thank you very much.
Previously, when I examined rquotad, I did not work as I expected.
I will try to verify again.
Best regard.

Is CentOS 3.5 built out of RHEL AS OR ES?
Hello Gurus,
1. Do you have any idea whether CentOS 3.5 is built out of RHEL AS or RHEL
ES?
2. Can a single process use more than 32 Gbytes of RAM in CentOS 3.5 ?
Is there any limitation that you experienced?
Thanks for your time.
Siva.

NFSv4 / Krb / wildcard in keytab
Hi,
I'm trying to use wildcard in keytab because i don't want join every
computer, client for service NFS krb5.
I add a spn like this
# samba-tool spn add host/* nfs
(I create user nfs before)
# samba-tool spn list nfs

User CN=nfs,CN=Users,DC=if,DC=ujf-grenoble,DC=fr has the following
servicePrincipalName:

silent file truncation on ext3 with linux quota v0
The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to comp.protocols.smb as well.
Hi,
I'm trying to implement file system quotas on a Debian Woody Linux
box. My problem is that W2k Explorer silently truncates files when
going over quota by copying files. Other applications work as
expected and show a "disk full" error message.
To me it looks like the

Hi!
I do a rsync between 2 machines. The throughput is only 2 MByte/Sec.
Each machine is a Supermicro server with

Both use rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30

chown/quota bug in ext3
Hi,
there appears to be a bug w.r.t. chown and quotas in ext3.
In particular, if you "chown" a file on a filesystem with userquotas
enabled, the quota charge in not transfered.
ditto "chgrp" and group quotas.
This happens because i_op->setattr has been redefined for files, and
ext3_setattr doesn't do the DQUOT_TRANSFER like it should.
I have fixed it by adding a
