Samba 2 PDC upgrade to Samba 3 - group mapping problem
I'm in the process of replacing a Samba 2.2.12 PDC with Samba 3.0.14a-Debian. An LDAP database serves as the user data store, and I've made no changes to the Samba 2.2.x-compatible LDAP records. Since I don't relish LDAP schema changes, I've specified ldapsam_compat as my passdb backend; I figured that since I was already running a compatible LDAP schema, there was no need to make

ldapsam_compat - join workstation to domain problem
Hi there I am using Samba 3.0 release with the ldapsam_compat backend until we are ready to migrate to the new LDAP samba schema. Using the same "root" LDAP user (and smbldap-tools) that Samba 2.28 allowed me to add workstations to the domain successfully, I receive a new error - "No mapping between account names and security IDs was done". When I switch to the domain

Sorry to repost this question.. But I am at my wits end.. The server has been off line for 2 weeks. So I will have to downgrade to samba 2.X by the end of the day unless a miracle happens ;) I'm having some issues with samba 3 and my ldap passwords. First I'll tell you what I'm working with. Hello. I've setup a FreeBSD 4.x machine with Samba 2.x and and OpenLDAP backend. I recently upgraded to Samba 3.0.10 and put "passdb backend=ldapsam_compat" in smb.conf. PDC + LDAP
I'm trying to set up my LDAP in preparation to configure my Samba PDC. In the Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide it give instructions on howto setup slapd.conf (section 10.4.4.3) After modifying the file it instructs to run /sbin/splapindex -f /splapd.conf When I run this I get the following error: /etc/openldap/schema/samba.schema: line 423: AttributeType not found:

LDAP passdb backends. What's the difference?
I've not be able to find in the docs where it describes the differences between ldapsam ldapsam_nua etc. etc. I don't have access to the man pages and I've checked the online documentation also. Something has been going wrong in my config and I think a better understanding of these may help. I do know that ldapsam_compat is supposed to be backward compatible with the old LDAP

Fedora and Samba
Hi. I am trying to get Samba 3.0.4, from tarball, working with Fedora Core 1. The problem is that I can't get LDAP authentication with either ssl or start_tls support. I tried compiling ldap on a plain install of fedora. I also tried compiling it after installing openssl-0.9.7d and openldap 2.2.11 clients and libraries from tarball. My ldap configuration of samba is as follows:

Samba and OpenLDAP Problem :((
Dear All, When i configured samba to use openldap for passdb backend, no one could connect to it, (all workstation maked time out.) But, pdbedit -L works and prints all the users i've created. So, i think everything about my ldap is right. (I've used samba 2.x scheme on my openldap, so I used ldapsam_compat:ldap://localhost/ for passdb backend.) when i comment the LDAP lines of my smb.conf

ldapsam, Sun JES Directory Server, Solaris 9
Hello, Help!! I'm struggling with ldapsam. I'm trying to configure Samba to use our LDAP directory (Sun's directory server) for the storage of Samba user accounts. It already stores our unix system accounts. I have successfully imported the schema file into our directory server and have compiled samba with the "--prefix=/opt/btifs/samba --with-ldapsam" options. smbpasswd fails to add machine account with ldapsam
Hi! I am seeing other users with the same problem as I have. My samba also fails to add machine accounts. It seems to me if it didn't even try. If I use some other script (pdbedit, smbldap-tools) than smbpasswd it manages to add the account but still fails to authenticate within the same session. If I try again the machine account exists and authentication goes ok. server:~# smbpasswd -a -m

samba nad ldap
Hi everyone! I have (i think) a fully functional tls enabled samba ldap server. I used the documenation on www.idealx.org. I can make users and computers with smbldap-tools but i can't add Windows computers to the domain in the client end. smbldap-useradd -w w-eddie ldapsearch -x generates among other things: # w-eddie$, Computers, dbb.su.se dn:
