User home dirs
Hello all,
I have a couple of questions about using the user home directories. Is
it nesscary to keep the smbpasswd file in sync with the passwd file.
When user level securitiy is turned on. From what I have been able to
figure out is that these files do not automagically sync up and that the
only real way to keep them in sync is to do it manually, unforutaly

I'm battling to get Toad for Mysql Freeware working on Wine.

It looks like it installs ok, but when I try to run it it doesn't start.
Can anybody help? This is doing my head in. I really don't want to have to install windows on my Acer

7206 as SIP->PSTN Gateway?
All,
I know you can use, say, a 2620 w/2 port FXO card as a SIP gateway.
Clearly you can use the 5300, 5800, and MGX8850 too. Does anyone know
which cards, if any, exist for a 7206VXR to act in a similar capacity,
either as a T1/PRI, DS3, or POTS FXO/FXS?
What other Cisco routers can act as SIP gateways today?
Thanks,
Dave

Final version of ZapScan
Hey folks --
Some of you had asked about getting my modification to ZapBarge that lets
you monitor active Zap channels, scanning through them with the # key.
I had posted a version a few days ago that was pretty crude; it didn't
check to see which channels were active and assumed you had 23.
I've finished a new version that checks to see what channels are actually
active and pulls

Evidence Theory in R
Hello,
well, I searched list-archive, cran and the references, but found
nothing. Thus:
Does anybody around here know anything about Dempster-Shafer Theory,
Evidence Theory or Hints in R? Has anybody stumbled about a package that
I overlooked or implemented something in this area? I really would like
to not implement a hint-model a second time.
My apologies if I missed something obvious, but I

Pushing data to a 7960
Anybody have any experience pushing XML display data to a Cisco 7960? I
am pulling data from a webserver now, but I have stuff, like queue status
info, I'd love to be able to push at particular phones.
A "pick up the damn phone" push message would be cool too. :)

BugReport: rsync fails it's own "regression" test "chmod-option"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Recent versions of rsync have a "regression test" called
"chmod-option" that when run fails, this should be causing rsync to be
rejected as broken by all distros and sysadmins.
A bit of research show that no one has mentioned this test since it
was last worked on in late September, nor does it show up as a current

Caller ID Presentment on PRI...
Hey folks,
I have a T100P card with a PRI; when doing outbound dialing over the PRI,
I can use SetCIDNum(2024561414|a) to force caller ID to display as "The
White House" on a land line. This is apparently done as a reverse lookup
by Verizon, as I do not hand the PRI the words "The White House" --
202-456-1414 is an actual White House number.
Using SetCIDName("Flying

Can S-Plus packages be used in R without modification?
Hi,
I have had a quick search to see whether this question has been
asked/answered before but haven't found anything directly related to it.
Basically, I am wondering if I can run the packages, developed by Shafer
for S-Plus, that allow multiple imputation of missing data - NORM, CAT,
MIX, and PAN.
If not, does anyone know if someone has done the modification that would
make these packages

Book Gap(s)?
As a long-time author of computer books, fairly experienced MVC/OO
thinker/coder, and recent Rails convert, it is probably not
surprising that my midnight ruminations occasionally lead me to
wonder if a Rails book might not be an interesting undertaking. But I
know there are some great titles out there already and undoubtedly
dozens more in the works.
I''m interested in writing

Converting S-Plus Libraries to R
Dear all!
I'd like to do multiple imputation of missing values with s-plus libraries
that are provided by Shafer (http://www.stat.psu.edu/~jls/misoftwa.html). I
wonder, whether these libraries are compatible or somehow convertible to R
(because I don't have S-plus), so that I can use this functions using the R
Program.
I would be happy if you could tell me,

Samba AutoCAD interaction/issue
Hi All,
As per subject line looking for info. Have client looking to setup about 10
users running AutoCAD with all CAD files being stored and edited on local
Linux/Samba server.
Not much luck in finding anything of detail from numerous Google searches.
File locking is of course an issue with multiple users. Client workstations
running WinXP Pro and using a mix of AutoCAD versions 2000, 2003 and

a question regarding s-plus libraries and R
Hi!
I am a relatively new user of R and I use it to prepare my dissertation. I
have come to some very usefull and specific libraries written for S-PLUS 4
and would like to use them in R. Is that possible? I just found out that one
of these libraries has already been transfered to R, while 3 others have
not. For the matter of beeing more exact I''m interested in the dealing with

Take Rails Studio Workshop?
In two weeks, Dave Thomas will be in Pasadena doing a three-day Rails
workshop. I''m about to sign up for it. I figure three intense days
with Dave and a few dozen other Rails developers will produce huge
learning leaps for me.
Then it occurred to me that it might be useful to ask the list if
anyone has attended one of these workshops before and, if so, how
valuable you found

Code Shopping in Rails
Back in the horse-and-buggy days when I was cutting my OO eye teeth
on Smalltalk, we had a LOT of conversations about the biggest problem
dealing with a large and growing set of classes and methods in the
Smalltalk image. It became clear that most, if not all, successful
Smalltalk coders spent a lot of their time code-shopping, i.e.,
looking for a class or method that did something they

Two outbound links, switching after threshold is reached.
I''ve just started to recently look at CBQ and HTB, but I''ve been
wondering whether or not something like the following is possible:
I''ve got two external links:
+--+
| |-----ISP1
|FW|
| |-----ISP2
+--+
One link has a bandwidth cap, and the other doesn''t.
What I want to do is, punt all outbound traffic out via ISP1
