Winbind in samba3-beta2 is broken compered to samba3-beta1 on solaris
I compiled samba3-beta2 with the same argument, kerberos- and ldap libraries as for samba3-beta1. The ADS join worked as it should. I am using the same smb.conf file as before: # Samba config file created using SWAT # from 10.0.0.254 (10.0.0.254) # Date: 2003/06/03 15:37:08 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = SAMBA-NET password server = * ads server = w2003server

Hi, I have joined a ADS (W2003 server) with success. Started winbindd. Changed SID after copied secrets.tdb
Hi, I recently did a complete upgrade and reinstall of one of our Samba servers. No problem, I backed up all the data, the Samba configuration files, and the secrets.tdb. Just compiled 3.0.8 on the new server (which has the same hostname), copied the smb.conf to /usr/local/samba/lib and copied th secrets.tdb to /usr/local/samba/private. Started Samba, did 'net getlocalsid' and it

quota-status returns quota_status_success when email would put user over quota
Hi list, I am attempting to get quota-status service working, so I can deny email at the initial smtp dialog instead of generating bounces with lda. I can't seem to get quota-status to return quota_status_overquota, even when an email would put an account over quota. Quota in general works fine: Jan 22 06:39:23 mail dovecot: lda(xx at yy.dk): msgid=<25c5bdb20d58fc4f649f716a947613dc at

WinBind - 3.0.0beta1
I am trying to get WinBind working against Windows 2000 ADS. I am following the document http://de.samba.org/samba/devel/docs/html/winbind.html. I have successfully joined the samba server to the PDC domain. /usr/local/samba/bin/net join -S PDC -U Administrator The winbindd starts successfully however when I try to use wbinfo -u it returns. [root@jerry root]# /usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u

newlines with write-append
Silly bash scripts have stuff like below to get things done, but equally silly guestfish scripts fail to add the required newline. Why is that? echo "$dev1 $mnt1 $fs $opts 1 2" >> /etc/fstab echo "$dev2 $mnt2 $fs $opts 1 2" >> /etc/fstab write-append /etc/fstab "$dev1 $mnt1 $fs $opts 1 2" : \ write-append /etc/fstab "$dev2 $mnt2 $fs $opts 1 2"

"file changed as we read it" message during tar file creation on GlusterFS
I think it is safe to ignore it. The problem exists? due to the minor difference in file time stamps in the backend bricks of the same sub volume (for a given file) and during the course of tar, the timestamp can be served from different bricks causing it to complain . The ctime xlator[1] feature once ready should fix this issue by storing time stamps as xattrs on the bricks. i.e. all bricks

"file changed as we read it" message during tar file creation on GlusterFS
Hi Ravi, thank you very much for your support and explanation. If I understand, the ctime xlator feature is not present in the current gluster package but it will be in the future release, right? Daily snapshots...
All, How can I get at the daily snapshots? When I go to the website, www.openssh.com, and follow the Linux link to portable.html and then go to request the daily snapshot from http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/, I get prompted for a user id and password. Needless to say, I ain't got. That's real useful. Use to be, I could get the snapshots from the ftp site. Then things

syslinux unable to find vmlinuz
Hi: Two scripts (mkbd.fails and mkbd.works) are attached to this message. The only difference between them is in how syslinux.cfg (on a RedHat boot image) is replaced. mkbd.fails: syslinux.cfg is replaced via "mv -f". vmlinuz can't be found. mkbd.works: syslinux.cfg is replaced via "cp". vmlinuz is found. The only difference I can see between these two methods is that

Folder with a questionmark "?mnt1"
Hey guys, i had a folder ~/mnt1 where a smbmount was mounted in. I browsed the subnet with smbc as normal user, than my ssh connection crashed because of disconnecting my remote wlan. :-/ Now i cannot access to mnt1, even root can't. The folder listing needs a lot of time and does not list mnt1 anymore. The midnight comander (mc) shows that folder in red color with the name ?mnt1 also after
