Then I typed this (computer and domain names altered for protection): linux_computer:/usr/local/samba/bin# smbpasswd -j MY_DOMAIN -r MY_PDC Where linux_computer is the linux computer (like you needed that) MY_DOMAIN is the

Problem browsing my unix-client - session setup failed: NT_STATUS _CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
I installed samba 3.0015. I have a problem when I try to browse my machine from a windows client. In effect I am not able to "open" my unix-client. I checked nmbd and smbd and they are running. If I try from my unix-clinet: smbclient -L my_user -W my_domain -L my_PDC I can see shares. If I try from my unix client: smbclient -L my_user -W my_domain -L my_unix_client I get session setup

Machine failing to keep its trust with Domain Controller
Hi, We have a Linux (RHEL 3.0, update 3) Samba 3 server which worked fine for months but suddently have trouble to keep its trust with the DC server. The only way to recover is to reset the machine account from the Windows DC side and do a "net join" to the domain from the Linux side. The Linux machine is able to keep its "trust" with the domain exactly 7 days, which,

Printing woes
Hi, I've been using Samba for a while, and I'm now running all network printing here from Samba. However, while printing itself works fine, my users can neither view the print queue, nor delete jobs from it, and this is beginning to get annoying. I'm using LPRng to do all the printing. All the clients are NT4 workstations. Here's some selected bits of /etc/smb.conf and

delay in winbindd user/group lookups with many users/groups in domain
Hi! I have the following problem: winbindd getgrnam/getpwnam/lookupname calls do not return for a long time (> 30 seconds) which is obviously quite annoying to the users. This usually happens at the "first" login, i.e. subsequent connections are not delayed until a (probably cache) timeout. I've failed to determine who is responsible for the caching yet. I'll provide

[OT] Apache rewrite stuff...
Hi all, a little off topic, but was wondering what the best way is to re-write incoming requests so that they all end up at the same domain. For example, if I had: my_domain.net my_domain.com my_domain.org Whats the best way to map/redirect all of these to www.my_domain.com ? I know its possible, just not sure what to add for rules/virtual hosts in my apache config. Thanks for the help! -Nick

Netbios Alias
I am trying to setup a Netbois alias that uses it's own smb.conf file. I have made the following changes to the original smb.conf file: netbois alias = TPUB02 include = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf.%L For some reason the smb.conf file in the include statement does not work. In touble shooting this issue I was able to hardcode the smb.conf file name in the include statement and that does
