Win(yuck)NT
In migrating to Samba on FreeBSD from Win(yuck)NT, I?ve run into this
hitch.
Let us say I have 9 users named
User1, User2, User3, ? User9
User1 is a member of group wheel
User2 & User3 have the administrative task (add/change/delete) of managing
the content of the directory Dirc1 and all subordinate objects (files and
directories).
Dirc1 is the directory /usr/Shared/Dirc1. Only User1

Hi Andreas,
i'm sorry to jump on your thread as i can't really help you here.
But as i have to setup an AD subdomain of a parent domain with the same
requirements as yours apparently (aka parent domain managed by Windows
server holds users/groups accounts on a distant location but the compute
ressources and the GPO will be managed locally under a subdomain), i'm just
wondering if you

Write access to share
Hello,
I am trying to define a share that is write accessible by only a two
individuals, and read-only for a few other individuals. Everyone else
doesn't get access to the share.
My smb.conf entry for the share is below
[soldrequest]
comment = Soldrequest polling share
path = /soldrequest
read only = yes
guest ok = no
valid users = user1,user2,user3,user4,user5,user6,user7,user8

idmap limit?
Hi,
yes, there are some things. But I have not found a nice complete
documentation.
One main point is the domain name as prefix of the username of the
parent domain, e.g. "DOM\user1", you have to use. I was not able to get
rid of it, as the client is member of the subdomain which is the
default. So you can't use the "default domain" option in smb.conf. The

Hi,
no, that's my fault. I changed the UIDs and user names in my "ls -l" to
unpersonalized/example data for my mail and didn't think about putting
these values into the range. A better unpersonalized data example would
look like:
----------
drwx------ 43 DOM\user1 DOM\group 4096 Jan 10 08:00 user1
drwx------ 5 DOM\user2 DOM\group 4096 Jan 11 08:13 user2

adding Windows Domain users to a unix group
Hi All,
Just joined the list. The postings are very helpful
for me to implementing samba for my work place.
I am running samba 3.0.1 or RED HAT 9.0.
Does anybody know how to add Windows domain users to a
linux usergroup? My PDC is running Windows 2000. I do
not have permissions to create groups on the Windows
PDC. Windbind is working fine on the Redhat machine. I
can map to the linux samba

Plugin mail-filter tangles
System installed : Dovecot 2.2.12 as IMAP server and Postfix as MTA.
Dovecot and Postfix connected via LMTP
+ Dovecot mail plugin 'mail-filter' to encrypt/decrypt emails on the fly
with public/private users' RSA keys.
Case study :
You have 3 (virtuals) users belonging to 3 different domains, all
managed by your Dovecot server.
One of these users is connected to Dovecot with MUA

3-way conference call
Hi,
I am trying to achieve 3-way conferencing taking hint from wiki link
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+n-way+call+HOWTO
Here is the scenario:
1. user "user1" calls user "user2"
2. "user1" then presses the feature code "*0" to redirect "user2" to
conference room 300
3. "user1" then dials the user "user3"
