Win2K Machine Accounts No Longer Valid after Samba PDC Upgrade (2.2.2 to 2.2.8a)
Symptom: After upgrading our Primary Domain Controller from Samba 2.2.2 to Samba 2.2.8a, users attempting to login from Windows 2000 clients are no longer able to do so. Details: After some research it was discovered that if a Windows 2000 client re-joins the domain served by the upgraded version of Samba, users are then able to, once

Re: starting lxcs from within a vm using libvirt
Just another ping, and please let me know if this is not the proper format to re-ask my submitted question, but anyone else having any joy on running lxcs via libvirt launched from within a vm? ________________________________________ From: libvirt-users-bounces@redhat.com <libvirt-users-bounces@redhat.com> on behalf of Robb Walker <rwalker@DRWHoldings.com> Sent: Thursday, July 10,

starting lxcs from within a vm using libvirt
my goal for testing/simulations is to be able to run a vm on my desktop and within that vm run linux containers currently I can start an ubuntu trusty vm using libvirt as my broker to qemu or qemu-system-x86_64 directly and start a saucy-based lxc using lxc-tools. I invoke lxc-start -n name -f configfile and within a few seconds I'm logged into my saucy based lxc. I can't start the lxc

Renamed Win2K Box No Longer Authenticates
My home network uses Samba 2.2.7 as a PDC for a windows network running a mix of Win98 and Win2K machines. The domain name is JNCHOME. My office laptop, named MERCURY, is on the PRINCIPIA domain. I successfully configured PRINCIPIA as a trusted network for JNCHOME so that when I connect MERCURY to the JNCHOME network I get full access to all JNCHOME services. This has been working for many

Driver Download with Foomatic-PPDs: Win2K Client says "Device settings cannot be displayed" if PPD's TranslationString longer than 40 chars
Hi, Samba list readers, I am forwarding these mails from one of the Linuxprinting.org lists to you (with the $SUBJECT changed by me), because surely some of you must have been bitten by this too.... This problem is verified on W2K (but not yet for NT/ME/XP/9x). Cheers, Kurt ################# problem description by Elena Khan #################### -------- Original Message -------- To:

Win2k DC no longer authenticates for Samba shares
I have a win2k domain ... 2 of the client machines are Red Hat (7.3 and 8.0). I set everything up to use the DC to authenticate ID/PW. Everything worked perfectly until a week or so ago ... Samba would automatically create a home folder and the whole nine yards. Now I can see the shares on the Samba machines, but I can't access them ... just prompts for the ID/PW over and over. I can mount

samba-2.2.2 and Linux 2.2.20 replacing Win2K?
Hi there, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers as to how to get rid of the spooge of microsoft from our office, and have samba-2.2.2 assuming file sharing duties (read this as the Boss isn't happy with all the win2K crashes on the NIC's) The machine is a Pent-III 850Mhz w/256MB, dual NIC's, and 2 HD's (IDE) with /dev/hda1 being where the OS is stored, and /dev/hdb1

Long logoff times - Win2k Client, Samba 2.2.2 PDC
Hi Folks: I am seeing excessively long logoff times on my Win2k clients - I am using Samba as a PDC. Excessively long == 6+ minutes. Network is 100BT switched. Total cable feet between client and server (including switch) - 10 foot. According to the switch, both machines are running at 100BT speed, full duplex. There is what appears to be a lot of network traffic between the client and the

Win2k joining Samba 2.2.2 domain.
Hello, everyone. I'm trying to make Samba 2.2.2 a PDC for Win2000 clients. I believe that I have set the Linux Samba machine up correctly. For your review, these are the steps that I have taken: * compile Samba 2.2.2 from source, no extra options. * make; make install. (to /usr/local/samba) * groupadd machines (for my machine trust accounts) * groupadd smbadm (samba domain admin group) *

Problem with Samba 2.2.8a PDC and Win2k Pro clients...
Im back everyone. Something I just noticed today and im not sure how to fix it: I setup our PDC running Samba 2.2.8a with OpenLDAP 2.0.27 on the backend to hold user accounts. By default, when I add users to our PDC, they are added to the domain users group. I then add them to whatever else groups I want them to be in. Everything has been working great. Well, today I went to one of my clients

very slow link between Win2k SP4 and Linux samba server (2.2.8a)
I've been experiencing an incredibly slow samba access from a Win2k SP4 client to a Linux samba server (Mandrake 9.0, samba 2.2.8a). It seems like the file transfer rate is not so slow, but the initial opening of files on the Linux samba server takes very long (10 ~ 20 seconds). The directory listing is also very slow. In the past, it took me about 2.5 hours to compile Mozilla-Windows

Upgrade to 3.0.2a from 2.2.8a: Was working, no longer works
I moved my original smb.conf and secrets.tdb to a new installation of MDK 10.0 OE; what used to be a great working system no longer works; I've checked all the configs via Webmin/Samba/Swat modules, and still, nothing is working. Either from a windows machine or another linux machine, no access. I've also made sure all the users were sychronised (or at least I think I did it right) but

Is the net rpc vampire at all destructive to a NT4 PD C?
"net rpc vampire ..." does NOT set the SAM or SECURITY hives of the registry to "readable", which is what renders the PDC non-operable. "net rpc vampire ..." is safe to use as many times as it takes to get comfortable with the process. I did it my self when I was converting our "labs" NT4 domain to Samba. --

R and Finance - EAD, LGD, PD
Hi, I'm currently beginning to use R for financial analysis (mainly Basel II benchmarks) and I would like to know if any R-User can give me some initial directions on packages and tutorials which I can use to calculate capital requirements, default probabilities, and related stuff. Thanks in advance, Rick [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

rawk no longer works on Rails 2.2.2
I just wanted to let you know that the hack to make rawk work on Rails 2.2.2 by grouping action calls no longer works. This is the hack, I have put the TODO where the line crashes Rails: -- module ActiveSupport class BufferedLogger def add(severity, message = nil, progname = nil, &block) return if @level > severity message = (message || (block && block.call) ||

I would presume this is another manifestation of what I reported (reproduced below) on 2003-12-01. cajo.terbraak at wur.nl wrote: >Full_Name: cajo ter Braak >Version: 2.1.1 >OS: Windows >Submission from: (NULL) (137.224.10.105) > > ># I would like to attach the matrix C in the Rdata file; it is 50x50 and comes >from a geostatistical problem (spherical covariogram) >

map to two different win2k shares with two different accounts?
I try and map to two separate shares as two separate users (default RH 7.3 installed rpms) from a win2k client (plaintext passwords, not a pdc or anything just a workgroup server) - First one maps fine, second gets: [Windows error dialog]: The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first
