share persistence problem
After awhile, my connections from my PC to my samba server end up with a
red "X" in them (share disappeared) if I leave my explorer window open.
If I click on these, they "wake up" and continue to function (and
the red X's go away). If I close my explorer window (while the red X's
are there) and reopen it , they are gone. An attempt to reestablish

MS Word + 2.2.8a: cannot save, read only opens
Folks,
We're experiencing intermittent problems with Microsoft Word 2000
under Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Here's one of the more
common error messages we get when trying to save:
Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Other errors include files being opened read-only without

Samba networking
To whom this may concern,
I do apologise first off for contacting your organisation, but I have scoured the internet looking for any answers to the problems I am having with Samba, and nothing even remotely comes close the solution I need. Second apology for my ignorance of Linux.
What I'm trying to do, is, I have two computers both with the same Linux distro ([K]Ubuntu), version (9.04),

[LLVMdev] LLVM-GCC generating too much code from inline assembly
Hi,
I recently switched to LLVM-GCC 4.2 on OS X, to go around a bug caused by
gcc with optimized code. Unfortunately, I ran into another weird problem on
LLVM-GCC. In my code, there's a file with a bunch of inline assembly blocks,
that worked fine with GCC 4.2. Now, when compiling with LLVM-GCC 4.2, weird
things happen.
Here's an example: (the blocks are larger than that, but a single

[LLVMdev] LLVM-GCC generating too much code from inline assembly
You may find it helpful to reference http://www.ibiblio.org/gferg/ldp/GCC-Inline-Assembly-HOWTO.html. In particular, the information regarding clobbers and constraints.
Generally speaking, it's best not to use inline assembly at all. What are you trying to do that you find it necessary?

Don't bother then, I should have synced to CVS and made sure those fixes
didn't already exist.

How to preserve capital letter
Hi all,
I'm not sure whether it is samba related, but I've got this situation:
I'm sharing a clipper program with samba, and then user access it using dosemu
installed in each workstation.
The program runs fine, except, when it creates a temporary file, it creates
the filename in small letter (not in capital letter when run in DOS). Seems
that the program is having trouble with

Mkdiskimage exits with syntax (maybe drive letter problem?)
I have had a problem with mkdiskimage for quite a while. It seems to
always exit with the syntax messages. I'm not really familiar enough
with Perl to figure out exactly what it's checking for there that it
determines is incorrect, but, my guess would have to be that it
doesn't like the letter. Eg, I think the last time it suceeded I was
running it on sda, but, not I'm typically
