LDAP and Samba 3 Beta 1
Hi, I have a slight problem, I've got the new Samba 3 Beta 1 on a machine. I've finally had chance to get to a VNC machine so that I can sort out the client side of things. I've hit a slight snag. LDAP seems to be working fine, I can log in etc etc through LDAP (once I realised you need guest as a backend to login) but when I open user manager on an XP client I get: [2003/06/13

Samba3beta3 + PDC + LDAP + UsrMgr.exe prob
Heya all, So I've finally got a machine on this Samba 3 domain. Yey. Its an XP Pro box, so I grabbed the UsrMgr.exe and SrvMgr.exe programs from Microsoft, and hoped to at least use UsrMgr to see lists of users, maybe even as a full User manager, since I can't find a decent one that does all the samba3 stuff. Anyway, I'm on the domain, and I run the UsrMgr.exe program and I get an

Re: USRMGR, groups, and ldap
I was experiencing the same problems as detailed below. I found that my OpenLDAP Samba (samba.schema) in /etc/ldap/schema was out of date; I have now replaced it with the latest version from the Samba source (3.0.23d). The correct number of domain groups are now reported with 'net rpc info' and the groups are visible from the Windows XP dialog boxes and USRMGR. Regards, Jon

usrmgr.exe problems / samba3.0.1 LDAP
Hello, I'm using Samba 3.0.1 with LDAP backend running as a PDC here. When I start up usrmgr.exe from Windows NT, it will read all the users (or computers, for srvmgr.exe) in the domain and report them back correctly. However, whomever I am logged in as ( including gid 512 users) it will not let me see details or change anything. In the logs after trying to view a users details I will get

Re: Samba3 - LDAP - USRMGR.EXE
passdb appears a lot of times in smba logs, even if it uses LDAP as a backend, as in my config. Maybe the log message should be changed in the code for something easier to debug... But this error message you said, only appears if you try to add or delete the user twice from LDAP, so you should remove "-a" from the add user script and comment out the user delete script if you intend to

USRMGR, groups, and ldap
I currently have samba version 3.0.23 installed using ldap as the backend. I am experiencing the same problems as Holger Wesser mentioned in his posting "USRMGR.exe not working properly". However, it appears that the fix of creating the group mappings does not work. They appear to be mapped correctly on my setup. My net groupmap list is: Domain Admins

Roaming profiles and USRMGR.EXE
I'm using Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu 6.06.1 as PDC for our Windows workstations. The passdb backend is tdbsam. I want to employ roaming profiles and due to the fact that we have a mixed Windows environment (Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro) I have the following entry in my smb.conf: logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U\%a Basically, this works fine. If a user is working on a W2k workstation, his

srvtools (Usrmgr.exe) : strange problem
Hello everybody. I have noted a strange problem when using Usrmgr.exe (from srvtools). The problem arise when a net groupmap is done on a group for which a user exist with the same name that the specified unixgroup. For example, lets say that I have the following UNIX user and group create on my Samba server : joe (in /etc/group) joe (in /etc/passwd) Now I create the following map : net

I have the following strange behavior of usrmgr.exe : * when I launch usrmgr.exe from a user account that is part of the Domain Admins group or that explicitly has the SeAddUsersPrivilege privilege, I can see the list of users and groups , and create a new user, BUT when I

Problems with "nobody" processes in Samba 3.0.4
Hi, Hopefully someone can help me with this because its driving me up the wall. I admin a Samba PDC which authenticates through an LDAP backend. Both the samba server and pam authenticate through the entries in the LDAP database. I recently upgraded to 3.0.4 to combat the M$ hotfix that destroyed password changing. Since then things have been squiffy. All runs fine (apart from a grouping

Reloading in usrmgr.exe
usrmgr.exe administration works for me. However, sometimes it is necessary to reopen the domain up to couple of times until the administration starts working. Allegedly also it's not necessary to press F5-reload after adding an user on Windows NT. However didn't test it, never used Windows NT for adding users on an Windows NT DC :) With Samba, I always have to press F5-reload in

Making unix system accounts invisible in USRMGR.EXE
I have a Samba (3.0.22) server (working on Ubuntu 6.06.1) acting as NT PDC. My passdb backend is tdbsam. I'm using USRMGR.EXE from Microsoft for user account administration. In USRMGR.EXE I see all accounts, unfortunately also Ubuntu's system accounts (like proxy, sync, sshd etc.). Is there any way to make them invisible for USRMGR.EXE? Cheers B.

can't open/create local group with usrmgr
Hi Samba users, First I can't open/create local group with usrmgr. Second creating global group and user is working, [third] but adding users to this [global] group failed.. I do this as yaya that has policy rights for everything, like "Domain Admins" has, and when I do it as root, it still doesn't work. Here's some infos: [root@sma-server-1 ~]# rpm -qa | grep samba

USRMGR Not adding users properly
I'm having problems adding users with usrmgr. I can run the scripts from my smb.conf fine from command line and do what I need to. But, when adding users with usrmgr, the login script and path statements are not identified and I have to go in and edit them manually. Does adding a user with usrmgr not use the add user script from Samba? Or must the user environment variables be added
