Help with Winbind
I've been trying for weeks to get winbind working with RedHat Linux 8.0. I've got everything setup per the winbind docs on http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#WINBIND. I've successfully joined my NT4 domain with smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r PDC -U Administrator. Running wbinfo -u returns my domain user list, as well as wbinfo -g returning my domain groups. getent

Mapping/mount smb file systems without using password
I have been working on getting a Linux workstation to authenticate against a W2K ADS. I have this working successfully using WinBind/PAM/Samba. I would now like to go one step further and mount/map the Windows network drives for the logged in client. I have looked at the man page for smbclient, is it possible to pass through the winbind password that was used for gdm authentication through to

SAMBA winbind problems
Ok... I am running fedora core 3 and trying to authenticate to a windows 2003 server... I was able to join the domain without any problems... I was having problems creating the directories... Found an article that mentioned to add client schannel = no to get to the point I am at now... The account is granted access... The directories are created... I click ok... Then it gives me an xsession

RE: pam_mount ( was RE: Help with Winbind )
After a little experimentation, I've come up with this: create a directory as a temp mount point (chmod 777) called /home.domainuser or something similar and assign the template homedir variable to it. This works for the first login, but I'm looking for advice on how I can rm -rf the whole thing to clean it up for the next user. Additionally, I noticed that it doesn't actually mount

RE: pam_mount ( was RE: Help with Winbind )
Well, I've started to look at pam_mount and it seems it doesn't compile under RH8.0 because it's missing pam_modules.h. I've located that in the source for pam. It's found in pam-0.75-46.8.0.src.rpm. The error I get is during the configure part: checking for security/pam_modules.h... no configure: error: You are missing security/pam_modules.h I'm not so good with

Help with PAM Config
I've installed SAMBA, Winbind etc and everything is working great for users to login with GDM using DOMAIN+username Although this is working, now I can no longer login as a generic Linux user (ex. root). The following is my GDM file from /etc/pam.d/gdm I wonder if someone might have a suggestion as to what it's missing to allow Linux users to login? #%PAM-1.0 auth required

pam settings for winbind
This is more of a pam question then a samba question, but I thought I'd start here and see if I can get an answer. I've gotten pam_winbind.so working with gdm (on RHAT 8) using the following /etc/pam.d/gdm file. I've put + signs to show the lines I added I added to the stock RHAT 8 gdm pam def.: #%PAM-1.0 + auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_winbind.so + auth

I am trying to get WinBind working against Windows 2000 ADS. I am following the document http://de.samba.org/samba/devel/docs/html/winbind.html. I have successfully joined the samba server to the PDC domain. /usr/local/samba/bin/net join -S PDC -U Administrator The winbindd starts successfully however when I try to use wbinfo -u it returns. [root@jerry root]# /usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u

help with winbind/pam
Hello, I'm trying to get a debian sid box to authenticate against an NT4 domain. I've followed the instructions in the winbindd man page and I think I'm on the right track. However, I'm having problems with PAM. As the winbindd man page suggests, I edited the /etc/nsswitch.conf and added some winbindd related stuff to my smb.conf file. I also edited the /etc/pam.d/* files.

Questions about winbind idmap ldap
We are using W2K domain with Samba3 servers. The implementation of samba servers with winbind authentication was successful. Now we are looking for winbind idmap ldap backend for distributing winbind users ID's, and I have following question: 1. Do I need put all users from W2K domain to LDAP by hand (with export - import tools)? 2. Or it is possible to automatically put successfully

Can't configure GDM after update to CentOS 7.6
Hi, It looks like the upgrade to CentOS 7.6 has been unusually disruptive with the GNOME desktop version bump and a series of moving targets under the hood. The result is some wreckage at my client's desktop installations, which I've been busy to repair since yesterday. First things first. I have a custom configuration of GDM, which consists mainly of two things. 1. Display my
