Samba 2.2.8a ldap compile problem with pdb_ldap.c
All, I am trying to compile 2.2.8a with the ldapsam, acl-support & pam. The make appears to go ok but the compile part doesn't. At the beginning of the compiles it lists out the flags: Using FLAGS = -O -I./popt -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DLOGFILEBASE="/apps/samba/var"

rsync feature needed: preserve atime
Often we need to preserve the information atime conveys, but I have found no way to get rsync to preserve this, nor any hint it is being worked on. It would be great if 'rsync -t' also set atime not just mtime -- or maybe a new option is desired for atime. I don't know if the -X mentioned in "NEWS file from CVS" covers this: > Added the --xattrs (-X) option to preserver

smbwrapper/smbw.c does not compile (Error 1)
After discovering a bug in the SuSE Samba binary (2.2.7a and 2.2.8a) which prevents some older DOS programs from creating files on a Samba share, I downloaded and built Samba 2.2.8a from the sources. Everything seems to work now (the old DOS programs are able to write to Samba shares) with the exception of smbwrapper which causes the following errors when Samba is built:

BUG?: 2.2.8a, missing header files for source/passdb/pass_check.c
I'm trying to compile in DFS with the --with-dfs option. There is an #ifdef WITH_DFS and following that, is some header files that are referenced that I can't seem to find any where. Is this a bug, or is this because my operating system doesn't have these files? I'm running OpenBSD 3.4. Here is the first portion of config.status: #! /bin/sh # Generated automatically by

'make' Building of Executables Fails
I have encountered problems when compiling SAMBA 2.2.8a on a RS/6000 7025-F50 (AIX 4.3.3.0-11), during the 'make' operation. I am using GCC 2.95.3.0, which I installed from Bull. Could someone review these results and provide some guidance for a solution? Thank you. ========================== The 'configure' operation completed with the expected messages (see below),

Samba 2.2.8a --with-pam Solaris PAM_LDAP
Hi All, I was wondering if anybody has had similar issues? 1. Why will the --with-pam option work when only encrypt passwords = no in the smb.conf file? 2. Is their a way to set encrypt passwords = yes in the smb.conf and still use the --with-pam option? I'm running Samba 2.2.8a with the following ./configure... ./configure --prefix=/opt/samba \

Updated from 2.2.8a to 3.0b3 gives smbtar newer failure
Hi all, Situation: We use smbtar for backups, incrementals done using -N <last date file>, and this has worked well with samba 2.2.x After upgrading to 3.0b3, using the -N (newer) option to smbtar causes a bad interaction with smbclient. Eg,: # smbtar -s PC -x Share -u User -p Pwd -d / -t - -N last-backup -v gives (if you print out the eval at the end of smbtar script): eval

Tar Failures Using smbclient from Samba 3.0.0beta2
I was trying to improve the performance of BackupPC http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/, which uses smbclient to connect to Windows systems to backup Windows desktop systems. I'm currently running Samba 2.2.8a on a fairly beefy Solaris 9 system and only getting 200-700 KB/sec from the Windows clients. The 700 KB/sec is when I connect to a dual-Athalon 2600+ Win2K system attached to the
