hi all... i have what seems a simple question regarding subshares, for lack of a better term... say i have a share with specific user/group permissions and a directory inside the share that i would like to add different user/group permissions... this is an example of my smb.conf file to illustrate [driveA] path = /samba/driveA browseable = Yes writeable = Yes valid users = PDC+groupA force group

Hi all. Problems resolved! I found the samba process that was increasing the memory after I ran the netstat from PID and I discovered that the process opened 88/464 tcp/udp port. After I ran tcpdump program in my DC server listening udp 88 port and I found many clients machines sending traffic a lot to my DC server. I blocked the ips from clients machines by iptables and the samba process

If you have an AGP video card which you aren't actually using you can try selecting the minimum possible AGP apperture (window whatever) size (possibly even disable it?). This might help. Also removing the AGP card and using a junk 1-8MB svga card will also possibly work. In my experience the linear framebuffer of video cards is by far the greatest memory hog these days.
