can't change user passwords from xp client machines
All, I am running samba v. 1.2 on a FreeBSD machine with XP clients. I cannot make user password changes from the XP machines using ctrl-alt-del > Change Password. I followed some suggestions in the archives and on the net and tried "guest account = smbnull." The result of this change was the exact same error in the smbd log, only instead of 65534 (nobody), the log read 101

How can wine be available for all users?
I'm using kubuntu 8.04 and I'm able to run three programs that I installed but another user can't. Is there any way to make .wine available for all users? I thought about copying .wine to wine in /usr/lib/wine or /usr/bin/wine.

dnsupdate failed with TKEY is unaceptable
Ah i see.. /usr/local/samba/private/dns.keytab Thats the "old" path.. Your using bind9 you should have: /usr/local/samba/bind-dns/dns.keytab dont forget to set the needed rights on bind-dns folder. On road, cant look deeper in it. Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: Rommel Rodriguez Toirac [mailto:rommelrt at nauta.cu] > Verzonden:

Samba ADDS DC krb5 and samba_nsupdate
Hello I tried on two vms on my vmware Workstation to use samba as DC. I want use BIND for dns system. To join the Domain had worked successfully after I recompiled the bind. It seems the zone are the same but Samba isn't in the ns-record. If I run dcpromo.exe I get this error message: This Active Directory DC is the last dns-server for the AD-zones. If I remove the DC the dns-names

RPM `requires` installation order
Hello All, I'm a bit of newbie with rpm/yum, seeking the help from rpm/yum experts. Suppose I have an RPM package A which depends on package B. RPM A's spec has 'Requires:B' tag with 'autoprov' and 'autoreq' enabled. When I install RPM A on a 'centos 6.5' machine with 'RPM version 4.8.0', using the command `yum install A` : * `rpm` installs A

Samba as AD travails
Many (many) hours later, I'm finally throwing in the towel and seeking help. I have read everything I can find on the internet to no avail to get past my issues. I have to say, I'm very disappointed in the general quality and fragmentation of information on this topic. Samba isn't a turn-key solution as an AD by any stretch of the imagination. I've run the gamut so far with

no failover with failover MDS
Hi all, we have two servers A, B as a failover MGS/MDT pair, with IPs A=10.12.112.28 and B=10.12.115.120 over tcp. When server B crashes, MGS and MDT are mounted on A. Recovery times out with only one out of 445 clients recovered. Afterwards, the MDT lists all its OSTs as UP and in the logs of the OSTs I see: Lustre: MGC10.12.112.28 at tcp: Connection restored to service MGS using nid

Re: [users] CentOS 4.2 dag repo problem.
Hello, It would be nice if we could get a full list of packages which have a wrong sha1 checksum. I don't have the bandwidth for a full mirror of all of Dag's rpms and i also don't have shell access to such a mirror. So a small request for a mirror admin: The following checks the files repodata/*.xml.gz against the sha1 sums in repomd.xml and checks the RPMS/*.rpm files against

ssh to failover target?
I have some machines that send ssh commands to a load balancer appliance that is really a pair of machines that can fail over to each other. The ssh keys are set up on both targets, but whenever the active target is changed, ssh issues a warning about a "man-in-the-middle" attack also goes to the log and the console which tends to alarm the operators. Setting the strict host check
