NT domain logon questions
Hi. Myself and a anti-Micro$oft companion tried to get
NT domain logons working yesterday and seem pretty close, but
not quite.
Samba is 1.9.18alpha3, server is an Ultra-2 running SunOS 5.5.1.
Encrypted passwords seem to be working, a la smbclient and mostly
from NT, "mostly" because it *seemed* to be working but we did
have some problems with home directories in smbpasswd changing

Bug in Samba v2.2.8a with Windows API GetFileAttributes ?
Before my company was bought out by another company, we were using Samba
v1.9.3 and I'm pretty certain that the GetFileAttributes was working
properly but I can't be absolutely sure. Since the move, we're using v2.2.5
and just recently upgraded to v2.2.8a on Solaris 2.7. I'm doing my testing
on an XP machine.
I'm seeing that GetFileAttributes is always returning 0 instead of

old samba domain to new version of samba domain
I have upgraded from samba v2.2.8a to samba 3.0.14a and put the
secrets.tdb file back in the /etc/samba directory. For some reason it
seems like the old profile information isn't be located. The hostname
and the domain name haven't changed.
Is it advisable to copy the old secrets.tdb file back again to the new
/etc/samba directory to see if it works? Or is there anyways to sync the

We have exactly the same problem with Samba v2.2.8a. We found out that the

Samba 3.0.0Beta1 - perl(Net::LDAP::LDIF)
Greetings ...
Download and created an rpm with my changes that I will use, but why
am I getting a
"Failed dependencies:
perl(Net::LDAP::LDIF) is needed by samba-3.0.0beta1-1lnx1"
Should I need this, and I can't seem to find an rpm for this. I
have tried to make a few, but they just kill over.
Does anybody have rpms for this?

Question on "read only" behavior in smb.conf
Hi All,
I've built Samba v2.2.8a on a RedHat 7.2 system and it seems to work ok.
However
I cannot understand the "read only" parameter in the following situation:
smb.conf file:
-------------------
[global]
security=user
encrypt passwords=yes
[foo]
path=/tmp/foo
read only=yes
The owner&mode of /tmp/foo is:

AW: Problems with machine accounts
Hi there,
after several (pretended successful) rejoins to the domain it does not work
and we decided to give up the domain login concept and simply map the
shares by a batch file now. We also had to disable the downloadable printer
driver option, because not all drivers work correctly :-(

PDC upgraded from 2.2.7 to 3.0.0beta1, now XP clients can't logon
After upgrading the PDC from 2.2.7 to 3.0.0beta1, W2K clients
still work but the XP ones cannot log on to the domain any more.
The client pops up a message "The procedure is out of range",
and smbd logs

Problems with machine accounts
Hi all,
I'm really banging my head against the wall here.
I'm running Samba v2.2.8a as a PDC on OpenBSD v3.3-current, and I
haven't
been able to join my Win2000 machines to the domain.
I have tried both manually and automatically to add machine accounts
to smbpasswd file to no avail. It always takes 2-3 minutes for the
Win2k machine to join the domain, suggesting that it really

smb_pam_accountcheck: PAM: Account validation failed...
Firstly, I've already solved the daft mistake of mine. I'm merely sending
it in so the next person digging through the archives might get helped out.
I've configured Samba v2.2.8a, alot of default settings. No LDAP
interaction, no winbindd. Accounts were created both in '/etc/passwd' &&
'smbpasswd', but whenever I tried to mount a share from my RedHat box, the

Problem accessing protected resources from any platform
Hi,
Here is my problem:
I set up Samba v2.2.8a on a linux host (RedHat Linux 8.0) for my workgroup.
My other hosts in the workgroup are Windows 2000 and Windows XP hosts and a 3COM firewall.
All directories that are not "protected" can be accessed by all users.
The workgroup uses encrypted passwords (using non ecrypted passwords does not solve the problem).
Samba is configured to

Problem with PRI and Ericsson AXE 10
Hi everyone,
I have a PRI conection on an * system running Asterisk 1.0.9, libpri 1.0.9 and zaptel 1.0.9.2 connected to an AXE 10 (APZ 21220 System 64) in the network side. I know the system and the wildcard I´m using are ok because I´ve used them before with other PRI connections (to a Siemens EWSD) without any problem.
First the PRI didn´t work (I got the TE110P alarmed with red). After
