Winbind authentication
Hi everyone, First of all, could you please CC me, I am not (yet) subscribed to this list. Now my problem: I created a test setup at my office that uses winbind to authenticate linux users to a Windows NT server (they log in with DOMAIN+username), as described in the winbindd manpage. I followed their setup completely. (at my work I am using RedHat 7.1 and the winbindd daemon found in the

AD authentication problem
I'm having a problem authenticating to Active Directory. I can join the machine to the domain, wbinfo -g/-u will list the groups and users and I can map a drive using: smbclient -k //s-lorentz.s-res.uva.nl/c\$ However when I try to get the linux machine to authenticate a user it doesn't work giving the error NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS (0xc000005e). Looking further in the logs it fails

ntlm_auth: (pipe \PIPE\NETLOGON) has died or was never started (fd == -1)
I'm exeperiencing a strange ntlm_auth problem: I'm running two domain with a trust; the trusting one, (EUFEMIA with the PDC Beatrice) uses the WINS facility of the trusted one (LETTERE, PDC Alice). Users of EUFEMIA and LETTERE alike have a successful logon to Beatrice. LETTERE users do authenticate in Beatrice with ntlm_auth. EUFEMIA users do not: beatrice:/home# ntlm_auth --username

Winbind ADS Issues w/ *TONS* of Pre-Research
Samba Team, I've been trying to get my Samba server to authenticate users against a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain controller, and it just doesn't work. I've encountered a TREMENDOUS amount of postings from people who have run into the same issue, and there's never any responses with a resolution. I must have viewed more than 500 postings over the course of the day. I

Problem authenticating from standalone servers via Samba 3.0.34 domain member servers to Samba 3.2.5 domain controller
We recently upgraded our PDC from Debian 4 to Debian 5. That entailed an upgrade of Samba from 3.0.24 to 3.2.5. Since the upgrade we've had a very specific problem connecting to shares on a commercial NAS running Samba 3.0.34. The problem happens when users try to connect to shares from standalone servers--e.g., Windows XP Pro boxes that we use for testing. From those boxes users should be

At my server is showed the error: Jun 24 00:18:20 maildev dovecot: IMAP(xxx at xxx): FETCH for mailbox Trash UID 1 failed to read message input: No such

Cannot Authenticate against AD ...
Hey all, I have a Windows 2000 AD PDC that hosts a domain. He also trusts our existing Windows NT domain (2-way trust, they both trust each other). I also have a Gentoo Linux machine that I have compiled Samba 3.0 on. I can get almost everything to work with regards to talking to the Windows 2k PDC, like this: mccoy samba # wbinfo -u LIGHTSPEED+Administrator LIGHTSPEED+Guest

NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS if Domain Controller is absent
I have my Samba 3.0.21c Linux Server as Domain member (security=ADS) so that domain users can use the Samba Server as shared file server. Everything works nice if the domain controller is present, e.g. wbinfo -a DOMAIN\\donald%donald plaintext password authentication succeeded challenge/response password authentication succeeded (this just simulates a Windows 2000 Client using the share which

weird winbind problem
I'm setting up a samba server that should authenticate against a samba 3.0 +Ldap PDC server. This is the situation 1) getenet passwd and getent group are ok 2) wbinfo -t -> checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded 3) wbinfo -g -> lists all the groups on PDC (nice!) 4) wbinfo -u -> lists all the users on PDC (nice again!) the problem is wbinfo -a test 1: a non existing user

Samba 3.3.0.obeta3, Redhat 9.0, Win2k ADS integration
My goal here is to add my Redhat 9.0 box to the domain and authenticate to the ADS Win2K domain from my Redhat 9.0 box. I have read the user gorup archives, man pages, for smb.conf and winbind, and I have read Head/3.0 documentation, specifically this part is where I started: http://us3.samba.org/samba/devel/docs/html/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#ads-member The docs are sadly not complete....

REPOST: Winbind logins failing after upgrade from Samba3 to Samba4
Hello, (I'm reposting this after my first attempt about 25 minutes ago has not come through to me. I am leaving out the looooooong debug log dump, in case the listserv didn't like the massive content, but it will be provided upon request.) I have a RHEL 6.5 server that was configured to use Samba 3.6.9-167 to authenticate against a Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory domain. The

krb5_auth: NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS for users from trusted AD domains in samba winbind > 4.2
Hi, in our setup, we have a number of AD domains with an exisiting one-way trust between the local domain of the system (which I will call LOCALDOM in the following) and the domain containing the user accounts (which I will call TRUSTEDDOM in the following). The domain controllers run Windows Server 2012. Beginning with samba 4.4 we have an issue with authentication through pam_winbind on the

Samba 3.0.2x Wbinfo -t ShowslJoined, but -u and -g fail to retrieve anything
Folks, I'm working on troubleshooting an installation where Samba 3.0.2x is joined to the domain. If I issue the command "wbinfo -t" it shows the secret is correct. If issues "wbinfo -u" or "wbinfo -g" they give an error about being unable to retrieve any users or groups. Just to test whether I could authenticate against the domain, I tried using ntlm_auth

ntlm_auth = NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS: No logon servers (0xc000005e)
I had to downgrade samba on a rh5.5 instance due to ntlm_auth not working properly: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=561325 Now, when I add the computer to the domain ('net ads join ?U Administrator') it seems to work, is visible on the AD interface, but the logs show an error: Nov 11 16:03:22 rhclient winbindd[4483]: [2010/11/11 16:03:22, 0]

Winbind and net -t failure
I posted about a winbind/PAM issue earlier and discovered that the auth portion of pam_winbind is what was causing my failures.
