cannot bind when doing a browser sync
I hope this isn't too long, and I hope it's the correct list. I have a network configuration where I have 2 hosts, A and B. Each has a local LAN on which the run Samba, plus they're connected by a VPN. So has A has addresses lanA and wanA, and host B has addresses lanB and wanB. Because of the way the VPN works, they can talk to each other either via their LAN addresses (lanA

AW: AW: AW: AW: Re: AW: samba installatio
hi ke, **************************************************** Since you've compiled with default options, your smb.conf is located in /usr/local/lib/smb.conf . You should copy your working smb.conf for version 2.2.7 (/etc/samba/smb.conf) to /usr/local/lib. You should run ./testparm as well. *********************************** That's just what i did and the Result is the same! Is there a

one opinion about searching samba docs for answers
It sure is hard to find info in the documentation/mailing list for a specific error. If an error log message was created by smbd, nmbd, or winbind, shouldn't the documentation contain a description, cause, and possible solution? Specific case in point: [2005/08/05 11:31:22, 0] nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:domain_master_node_status_fail(250) domain_master_node_status_fail:

active connection gets lost in samba version 3.0 beta 3
Hi team, A Samba "panic" occurs after repeatedly saving "word" files on the server. Following the panic the "active connection" disappears, but the "active shares" and "open files" stay. Windows reports different errors such as "delayed write failed", "Cannot complete the save due to a file permission error" etc. Many of the

disabling version number
Hi there, is there any possibility of disabling Samba's version number output (e.g. with smbclient) without having to manually edit it in the source code? I don't want anyone to see my Samba's version number... Thanks Florian

apply to this (security=domain) case, since auth is via the PDC. So, shouldn't winbind_lookup_sid() be succeeding. Should I be trying to track the failure in that code? In case it's helpful, ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows: libdl.so.2 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40017000) libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x4001a000) libpam.so.0 => /lib/libpam.so.0 (0x40030000) libc.so.6 =>

Fudging domain support - samba 2.2.0
Hi; There is likely a supported way around this problem, but it wasn't immediately apparent to me. So, I created the enclosed patch to fix my problem. What I would like to do is the following: - run samba in "security = domain" - not use trusted domains, but allow people to connect from other domains - not maintain a local encrypted password file for samba, but instead use our

Followup to NetBIOS scope/domain browse list bug (not a solution)
So, a few updates, after a little more legwork: First, samba 2.0.6 doesn't fix the problem. I didn't think that it would, as (a) the change log didn't mention anything about it, and (b) the CVS system didn't mention anything about it on the few spots that I intuited I may find such a note if it WERE fixed. Second, after trawling through the CVS and source, I think I may know

SCO lan manager
We have a linux pc (slackware 4.0, samba 2.0.5) acting as a gateway between two subnet of our office. On my side of the net I have a mixed win95/NT/Samba network, and on the other side we have some sco unix servers, running an old lan-manager, os/2 like. Gateway linux is a master browser, that enable us to see the other subnet, but... I can't see the record for the sco-server in

[patch] smbmount fixes for samba-2.0.7, testers wanted!
Hello all This patch tries to remove a few bugs from smbmount. It would be nice to get some testing+feedback on this from others using smbmount and possibly get these things fixed for the next release of samba. It does the following: * Change lib/debug.c to allow changing your mind on being interactive. A second call to setup_logging should now replace the effects of a previous call. (hmm,
