This sure looks like a bug but maybe a configuration error on my part. I am trying to migrate out current OS/2 Warp 4 based file server to Samba. We have OS/2, Win98, WinNT4, and Win2k clients. When I tried to download the files from the ftp server with wan IP address or the dyndns address it downloads some files and disconnects. I have scoured the documentation and mailing list but can't find what seems to be an obvious question. I would simply like to index binary files (images, zips, dwg files) so that they are included in the search results. They wouldn't need to be parsed for content, only have the filenames searchable. After discovering a bug in the SuSE Samba binary (2.2.7a and 2.2.8a) which prevents some older DOS programs from creating files on a Samba share, I downloaded and built Samba 2.2.8a from the sources. Everything seems to work now (the old DOS programs are able to write to Samba shares) with the exception of smbwrapper which causes the following errors when Samba is built:
