XP & 2000 Printer problem
I'm having a problem with my XP & 2000 pc's, with printers. During the initial installation and configuration of these machines, everything is fine. But any printer added to the network AFTER the initial config of the winXP & win2000 pc's, isn't available to these machines. So... if I add any printers to my network, I can't use them with my winXP or win2000

nmblookup can't resolve IPs (but SMB-names)
Hi there, i have Samba 2.2.7a running on FreeBSD-STABLE 4.7. I set up a few things and smbd and nmbd start up at boot, i can browse the net. However, nmblookup can only find IPs by SMB-names, but not SMB-names by IPs. Here is an example output of the failed lookup: %nmblookup -d 3 210.104.1.133 Initialising global parameters params.c:pm_process() - Processing configuration file

VIM Syntax Highlighting
Has anyone got vim to have syntax highlighting with R function codes? I know there's something similar that works with emacs (ESS or something like that), but I was wondering if anyone knew an equivalent that worked with vim. samba 2.2.8a SWAT enhanced
Hallo ! If You are using SWAT and you using the "Advanced View" mode the list of parameters is very long and it's not handy to find anything. Also You can't do everything on the Password page-Seite nicht, what You would do with the console command "smbpasswd". And a nice list of all smbpasswd accounts is not available on SWAT. So, I've tried to enhance this.

VoIP Provider
Hi, I am just about to move out from my parents home and think about how I will phone from now on. In Germany there is a provider (QSC) who offers DSL (1024 down/256 up) with fastpath without volume or time limits. Does anybody know a comercial (or even semi-professional) provider who lets me dial out through H323 (or another protocol) and also offers an number where I can be called from

domain users in local groups with Winbind/Samba/Redhat
Hi, I am running a Samba 2.2.7a on Redhat 7.3 in a NT domain. For authentication I am using the domainusers. This is done by Winbind 2.2.7a which verifies the existens of the users on the PDC. So I dont't have to create local users (/etc/passwd) for users who want to connect to the shares in the smb.conf. I authorise them by adding valid users = domain+domainuser to the smb.conf. This works
