AW: wbinfo doesnt work...
Have you looked, if winbindd is still running after you started it? I think, if the settings for winbind in smb.conf are not correct or if nmbd isn't running, winbindd terminates immediatly after you started it. I understand the reason

sudo + pam_lastlog causes user to appear logged out in logs.
Hi, this was originally reported on ports@. [1] Someone noticed that after after running sudo their session disappeared when running `w` afterwards. I've done a little experimenting and this is caused when pam_lastlog.so is included in sudo's pam file. This results in the user still being logged in though according to the system logs the user has logged out. Here's an example:

Status of Samba3 Beta3
OK I am a 2.2.8a/LDAP user and have thus far been very skeptical about making the switch to Samba3. I have seen inconclusive evidence of Beta 3's success rate from the postings since its release. So my question is... Has anybody been able to get Samba3b3 to act as complete replacement for their Windows or Samba2.2.8a PDC? How about with an LDAP backend? Is it stable and bug-free enough

When user tried to use samba, they got "Failed to open /usr/local/samba/private/secrets.tdb". PAM sessions and conversation functions
In OpenSSH 3.6.1p2, pam_open_session() ran with a conversation function, do_pam_conversation(), that fed text to the client. In OpenSSH 3.7.1p2, this is no longer the case: session modules run with a conversation function that just returns PAM_CONV_ERR. This means that simple session modules whose job involves printing text on the user's terminal no longer work: pam_lastlog, pam_mail, and
