Error looking up domain users
I know this problem has been addressed before on this list, but I think I'm running into something new here. I have a couple of debian boxes on my network that reference two Windows 2003 Domain controllers. I had them set up and working very well, until a couple of days ago when my windows admin decided to install Service Pack 1 to the 2003 servers. Now when I try to get a user list with

Samba password problem when in domain
Hi, In our network, I have set up a samba server in a workgroup. We're now migrating to a domain, using SBS 2003. When I locally login on XP and access the samba server, it works just fine. But, when I login on the domain and then try to access the same samba box, it doesn't accept my password. The username for my samba account and account on the domain are the same. Also, the name of

If I log into a shell as a user on the system and invoke smbpasswd, It goes through all

win 98, freeze on login/shutdown
G'day, I'm helping with an outback community technology centre, six workstations and a Linux server running Samba. The six workstations occasionally freeze during shutdown or login. I'm wondering how to diagnose this, as I have very little experience with Windows. Is this a Samba problem? Symptom: clients freeze sometimes, mouse pointer won't move, Control/Alt/Delete gives no

Samba mapped drive to XP on logon
Hi- I'm having a recurring problem with Windows XP and a Samba share on logon. More specifically, I have a Samba (v 3.0.24 on Debian Etch) share with share permissions (not a domain) mapped to a drive in Windows XP Pro. Whenever someone logs onto an XP Pro computer in the network the drive isn't there. Here's an example: Say there's a document on the shared drive and a

Can't Find Password
I am running Samba 3.0 HEAD with LDAP 2.0. I have ldapsam enabled buy when I try to log into my server from a W2K machine I get the following in my error log: sam_password_ok: NO NT password stored for user root. The log file shows that Samba successfully retrieved the root posixAccount record and the log displays some of the data (i.e. home directory) that is stored for root in LDAP. The

windows 2000 drive connection issue
I've got a 2.2.3a-12 (Debian Stable) Samba server running on a small network with 98, 2000, and XP machines. The server is a domain controller and the computers are members of the domain. We are using login scripts to map the drives. I have one computer that is having a weird issue. When the user first logs on, you can go to My Computer and see the drive fine. Double-clicking on the drive

Trouble Using AR Object based on a Piggyback Query?
Hi, I''m new to Rails and Ruby and can''t access methods/columns from an ActiveRecord object that is a "piggy-back" row as described by David here: http://www.loudthinking.com/arc/000235.html Via Console I can create the piggyback object but reading attributes gives "TypeError: cannot convert String into Integer" (this is in Console and the browser).

POP3 only - why is cur/ growing?
Hi, I use Sarge's dovecot for a pop3 mail collection server. IMAP is not used at all. It works well, but I would like to know why one of the accounts also keeps a copy of all e-mail copies in the cur/ folder? Thanks a lot, Wally -- Wally Winchester wally_winchester at fastmail.fm -- http://www.fastmail.fm - The way an email service should be

SPA2100 transfer to ASTERISK CID
Hi all, I have around 100 SPA2100 registered in my provider openSER. I'd like to add an Asterisk registered into openSER, to the network, to deploy voicemail service for those SPAs. Due to administration access levels, I have no access to SER box, so I'm wondering if that possible: - Some foreign user (say A) calls one of my SPA (say B). - B don't answer. So.. B SPA is setted up to

help system works under IE but not Firefox
I just upgraded to 2.10.1 on a WinXPSP2 machine. When I type help.start() R attempts to open a browser session at http://127.0.0.1:27594/doc/html/index.html using my default browser (Firefox 3.6) and is unable to connect. If I then open the same page using IE 8, it works just fine. How do I fix/change R so that it works with Firefox? Thanks Bill William J. Raynor, Jr. Ph.D. Technical Leader III

slow write speed
I have a 100mbps LAN. I'm writing a 9MB file from Windows XP to Debian (testing) with Samba 2.2.3a. The write speed is about 1MB/s. Transferring the same file over FTP is 5MB/s. Reading the same file over Samba is 3MB/s. Looks like something is wrong with Samba. I've read a lot about Samba optimization. I played with SO_SNDBUF. I've tried 4096, 8760, 8192. No improvement. Samba vs Microsoft Logon Protocols
Hello, I am trying to figure out how the different values for "max protocol" and "min protocol" (as seen in the smb.conf man page under the "max protocol" section) correlate to the Microsoft jargon for the different logon protocols. Here is what I've determined. Could some please verify this for me? Samba Microsoft CORE
