Samba Permissions
I just installed samba on my private home network. It looks like I only have read access to shares. Using swat, I changed the create, security, and directory mask to 777, and committed the changes. But I still can't write. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?

SRV records not added by subsequent DC's
Hello, sorry to ask this many questions, but I want to know why things happen they way they do and if perhaps something is wrong. Our new, shiny domain created by classicupgrade consists of 4 (four) domain controllers. dc1 was the first, which was created by classicupgrade. Then I added dc2, dchks and dcirm using samba-tool domain join iww.lan DC -U "IWW\Administrator"

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

Calculating lengths of runs of 0 or 1 sequences in meteorological data
Dear List Members, I need some help about programming in S language. My problem is as follows: I have meteorological data (about rainfall measurement each day from 1989-2002), say like http://www.angelfire.com/ab5/get5/data.rainfall.txt or http://www.angelfire.com/ab5/get5/R.rainfall.txt in a sequence of 0(denoting dry day)'s and 1(denoting wet day)'s. I want to construct a frequency

Hey Rui, glad that I can help out. I was going to use lld in the following scenario: I'm writing a programming language and started with unit-tests that build ASTs for small test cases. I then want to generate

Unexpected accounts showing up in replication status (doveadm replicator status '*')
I have a replication set up with two dovecot 2.3.4 servers. Messages appear to be replicating fine between them, however there is an oddity when I run doveadm replicator status '*' and I'm worried work is being carried out needlessly. Both machines have identical configs and have a mysql backend for username/passwords.? Both machines point to the same mysql server and same

Sporer, K. Brandenburg and B. Edler. I hope this helps to relieve the shortcoming with the -404 error message when trying to access it form other sites. Please let me know if I am

Samba as PDC
I have Samba v 2.28 on RedHat 8.0. (Please don't ask or tell me to update Samba or the OS, as it's not an option right now). This server acts as the PDC for a domain we are setting up. I have this problem that whenever a W2K client (actually I haven't tried it with any other OS) tries to log into this domain (I have, by the way, added the client computer to the Samba server), they get

You have the setting on to HIDE files that can't be written to. Try turning that off. Next, investigate why it's causing the files to get 540 permissions instead of 740 (or other).
