server=domain does not work in samba3.0-alpha24
Hi All,
I tried to apply "server=domain" for a samba server domain member with
samba-3.0alpha23 and samba-3.0alpha24. In each cases, " ads_connect:
Connection refused .." message appeared when trying to join the domain. But
"net rpc testjoin" says ok.
The main point of this mail is that " smbclient -L mysamba -U username"
will work on

Swat documentation broken
Just installed samba-3.0.0beta1 and trying to use
swat. When clicked on help on a particular paramenter
(any one), a new window pops up and supposingly it
will load smb.conf.5.html and then jumps to the label
of the parameter. But now it doesn't work.
smb.conf.5.html is no longer complete.
Checked under docs/docbook/smbdotconf and found that

Samba3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP
I finally got Samba-3.0beta1 as PDC with LDAP backend.
However, I need to specify:
passdb backend = ldapsam smbpasswd:smbpasswd guest
and have the root account's exists in smbpasswd file.
I still could not get a uid=root entry in LDAP to
allow client workstation to join the domain.
When in samba-2.2.8a I could use a fake rid=506 with
uidNumber=0 entry in LDAP (as a SambaAccount) and it

winbind+samba3.0 pdc on the same machine
Hi all,
I am trying to install samba 3.0 pdc alongwith winbind
on the same machine, the objective is to allow Squid
to use ntlm_auth for samba users existing on the same
machine.
If I move squid to another machine, join this machine
to samba3.0 domain and then use wbinfo, everything
works fine. But when I install squid on the same
machine as samba and then try to use wbinfo it fails.
I get the

Trusted domains with samba3.0
*** Please, even if you have not an answer to my question, just tell me
where can I find more log files or a forum where I could find gurus,
Thanks ***
Hello,
I am testing Samba3.0alpha21 using trusted domains. On my network, I
have:
domain STLO-ADMIN (nt4 server)
domain STLO-SMB (mandrake8.1 - samba3.0alpha21 server)
I want to make a relationship between these 2 domains. So, on my
NT4server, I

smbclient is broken and W2k can't connect to Samba3.0-rc2
Hi,
I have done the same test since Samba-3 alfa.
- Compiled the source
- Joined the W2003 server
- Winbind works
- wbinfo tests passed
- Connect to samba using smbclient fails with
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
- W2K client can't brows or connect to Samba.
I have attached the debugging info from smbclient.
I have also bug-reported this.

samba3.0/winXP can't see printer spool state
Hi,
I have a Linux machine running Debian 3.0 (potato), where
I have installed samba-3.0.0. I want to share a printer
attached to this machine, driven with lprng.
The client machine runs Win XP Home.
I can send print jobs, it works, but there remains
a performance issue (detailed below (*)).
My main problem is I can't access the printer spool
from XP.

kerberos auth fails in samba3.0 alpha23
Hi,
I build an alpha23 samba3.0 system in win2k AD domain. Just a few days
ago, it works very well. But in recent, I find it cannot work.
I am sure it is the reason for kerberos authority. When I kinit a ticket
successfully, it fails to run "smbclient \\Win2K-server\c$ -k", the
error message will be as blow:
Doing spnego session setup (blob length=109)

migrate old samba2.2.8 - smbpasswd to new samba3.0 - ldap - based
I'm just migrating a medium sambainstallation from old samba2.2.8 to new samba
3.0. The server is acting as PDC and there is no BDC.
The new samba is based on LDAP and is already successfully tested. Now I need to
transfer the whole old smbpasswd to the new ldap-style to convert users and
machines with minimal effort. Especially I dont want to break the relations
between the machines and

samba3.0+pdc+ldap adding machines to domain
Has anyone had any luck adding machine accounts from w2k to a samba 3.0
pdc? I posted the issue last week, as I noticed others were encountering
the same problem. The weird thing is I had it working on a box before.
But this time I'm using pam_ldap to avoid local unix accounts, and it
wont work. I copied the config over from the box that was working, made
changes for the different config

Hallo to everybody out there,
I have downloaded and compiled Samba3b2 on a SuSE 8.2 machine. For testing
purpose, I connect to this machine with a Win2k-Box ... most things seem to
work fine, but I am unable so change passwords from the win-box with unix
password sync enanbled.
I changed loglevel to 103 and enabled password chat debug. From what I found
in the log-files, I can conclude that

Authentication problem when using LDAP
A colleague has seen a problem (with Samba 3.0), in using
LDAP.
A very simple version of the problem is as follows, where
he tries to authenticate a user "grw"

ldap smbpasswd UH???
I can't really guess the point of your intelligent answer from this.
If I have to assume you're surprised, I guess I am too.
The cn exists in ldap, with all the attributes that I imported from
other databases, the message given by smbpasswd suggests that it either
tried to create an entry or update it with sambaaccount attributes (
which it didn't ), neither of which are the expected
