Samba/LDAP XP Authentication Weirdness
Samba 2.2.8a, RH7.3 I have successfully connected machines running XP to the samba controlled domain. There are 3 XP machines, each with only one user designated as a power user (ie domain\username power user). Each can log into any of the three machines without a problem. Now I am trying to log a different person into any of these machines and I get the message "System Could Not Log

I want to export my users from NT to linux with passwords....if that is impossible, I also have all

rpcclient error / printer driver issue

I came across this problem when trying to delete a driver none of the printers are listed in the smb.conf - it is all being generated from the cups and the printcap that cups makes on load First enumprinters works: rpcclient $> enumprinters

Does the BDC need to "join" a domain?
If I configure a samba PDC and then a samba BDC, do I need a machine trust account for the BDC? That is, do I have to run "net rpc join" on the BDC? Or manually create the account for the BDC in LDAP? -- Mariano Absatz - "El Baby" el.baby at gmail.com www.clueless.com.ar

smbpasswd question
Do you have to enable encrypted passwords for smbpasswd to work? I have yet to enable encryption because I wanted to test everything first, but have enabled 'update encrypted = Yes' so that this will update the smbpasswd file. I also have 'unix password sync = Yes'. However, I cannot get smbpasswd to change the passwords, either by user or root. Any suggestions? Carey

Rsync Performance In Windows
Has anyone else experienced high CPU usage when using RSYNC in windows 2000 server? I am using the rsync.exe (and applicable DLL's) from the cygwin installation (I am not however running cygwin on this machine). The linux machine connecting to the windows rsync daemon has a very low performance hit when the session is running (see below). However, the windows machine, which has a much

Samba as BDC in NT domain
I have this problem: there is a subnet 192.168.6.0/24 and the gateway is 192.168.6.1 which has also another nic 172.21.13.123 which belongs to subnet 172.21.13.0 where the PDC of NT-domain is. GW does NAT and it causes that computers/users in subnet 192.168.6.0 cant logon to NT-domain. Clients can find printer when "browsing" but not otherwise
I had a working Samba installation on my home network. Then I replaced one printer with another. The new printer is successfully installed on my RedHat 9.0 system on /dev/lp0. It is an Epson C82. From the RedHat system all is well. However, I am unable to print to this printer via Windows XP boxes on my network. Samba is working to the extent that Windows can find these printers via

smbpasswd via cgi
using samba and ldap - redhat 7.3 trying to work on a short cgi to update samba password (it is a url with attributes username and password). I am not very good at all with perl, so if someone can take a quick ponder and help me out, that would be great.
