IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
Hi all, I''ve been using Shorewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a FreeS/WAN IPSEC

Folder Sync for road warriors in a Samba 4.8.x setup?
Hi All, I know this isn't really a Samba question per se but I'm looking for some samba-related advice.. :) I have a very small AD DC setup (5 users) and some end-users (read: teenargers) are now using laptops, which means they don't always have access to the network shares configured by GPO and Logon scripts from the Samba servers when they take the laptop to school. (The Samba

Bridging Firewall with windows OpenVPN road warriors?
I have previously set up an openvpn LAN to LAN bridging VPN so I know a little about what has to happen. The gateways on either ends were running older version of shorewall that did not support openvpn directly so I just basically opened ports for it and used bridging with tap interfaces. I am no longer using that vpn link to the other house but now that i''ve upgraded I would like

Samba and VPN Road Warrior setup
Hi, I have setup a Linux + FreeS/WAN VPN firewall/gateway to provide Out-of-Office access. I have used DHCP to provide a small subnet block of Internal IPs for use by the external VPN Road Warriors, (All running XP with SSH Sentinel), on their Virtual network interfaces, and the VPN gateway performs ARP proxy on the internal interface so packets go to the right place. No NAT is performed on this

I'm using my samba server as a printserver exec. jobs into a spooling system, there is abount 250 print shares in the smb.conf file. Problem One: I'm geting a lot of IPC$ connections, is it possible to get rid of them ?? Problem Two - and more Important : Some of my users are getting a

How the program spoolss works ?
Hai, There is a small bug in the directories. Verify this: [print$] comment = Printer Drivers path = /var/lib/samba/printers Check if you see these folders in /var/lib/samba/printers color IA64 W32ALPHA W32MIPS W32PPC W32X86 WIN40 x64 Most probley you need to : rmdir var/lib/samba/printers/COLOR mkdir var/lib/samba/printers/color And restart samba Lets start there, if

printing fails for SPOOLSS OpenPrinterEx request
Hi, I have a problem with my printing setup of a windows XP client with a samba server. The windows driver seems to use different ways of smb/printer communication for printing in normal/duplex mode and for printing brochures. The latter failes silently. normal/duplex printing uses: SMB Open Print File Request brochure printing starts with: SPOOLSS OpenPrinterEx request I recorded the network

INTERNAL ERROR Report
I have read the BUGS.txt file, used 'testparm' (successfully), and run through all the steps in DIAGNOSIS.txt. I don't see any problems that those tools have identified. The BUGS.txt file indicated that INTERNAL ERROR was almost certainly the result of a bug. I'm hopeful I have sent you the information you need. Let me know if there is something more I need to send. Fw: INTERNAL ERROR Report
I realized that my choice of options for grep did not do a very good job of including the last error message before the INTERNAL ERROR. I've included it in this email. Sorry. create_policy_hnd: ERROR: too many handles (1025) on this pipe. Samba 3.6.9: spoolss_connect_to_client: unable to open the spoolss pipe on machine WINDOWS-SERVER-2.WINDOWS. Error was : NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.
Trying to get a printer server running Samba 3.6.9 (On CentOS 6.5) going. Trying to add said printers to a Windows Server 2012 machine prior to deploying to a network of Windows 8.1 laptops. Definitely making progress; finally figured out the initial permissions issue I was having (combination of a winbind separator and using the wrong group prefix and syntax for user lists in an AD context), but

spoolss causing driver issues
Hi, I have a problem. I upgraded from samba 2.0.7 to 2.2.3 recently, and one of my 2 printers have driver issues. Whenever I print to SAVIN 2545, I get binary and hieroglyphics, so I assumed that it's driver-related. I can print to our HP8100 just fine. Some machines were still configured with: "\\server\savin", LAN Manager Printer These machines STILL print fine. However, if

disable spoolss - not working
Hi, I don't want to have to downgrade my samba server to disable spoolss. I'm running 2.2.3. (I assume I don't need 2.2.3a since it just fixed an overwrite bug). When I use "disable spoolss = no", I can access my printer \\server\savin just fine. When I use "disable spoolss = yes", I can see my printer (savin) in \\server, but when I access it, I get:

Samba Printing api_rpcTNP: \spoolss: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX failed
Thats really annoying because the printing with samba is not possible, just printing directly to cups is possible. The clients are working with UTF-8, the server is working with UTF-8, don't know why character conversion should be a problem here. How the program spoolss works ?
So after Rowland's adviced changes. I use this part for printing. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Print_Server I added this to the smb.conf for my print server (note, i use a member server). I use cups - raw so my clients generate the print job. ##### PRINT SERVER PART ####### #enable asu support = yes ## Enabling spoolssd rpc_server:spoolss = external

samba-2.2.5 + spoolss + WindowsXP=DENIED? plus some
I have setup my samba server to be a domain controller for my primarily windows based home network. For the most part this work well. I am running on samba 2.2.5, installed from an RPM I downloaded directly from the us4 samba mirror. The host OS is Redhat 7.3 with all current patches. But I am running into two problems. First of all, when I try to connect to the shared printer we have from
