Multiple wins server entries
Hi.
I have 2 questions:
1. Is it possible to specify mutiple "wins servers" in smb.conf file?
man smb.conf doesn't say that, so I don't know. If it is possible how
do I do it? "wins server = IP_1, IP_2"?
2. man smb.conf says "password server" must be a NetBIOS name. I have
IP addresses specified and it works OK anyway. How come?
Thank you in advance,

MySQL user information storage
Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible not to have Samba users as
UNIX systems users (at least without system passwords!), if I use MySQL
backend with Samba 3.0.2b?
Also, is there any good documentation about Samba and MySQL
cooperation besides Samba HOWTO?
My goal is to use same MySQL database (same users table!) for Samba
authentication, Postfix, Courier-IMAP and ProFTPd.
Thank you.

Huh... 2.2.8 exploit?!
... By my mistake a 2.2.8a-1 running on RH8 was exposed to the Internet. It
was cracked in a matter of hours. I noticed it because they've deleted my
smbd. :-|
I'm ready to reinstall the machine, if there are any logs that anybody is
interested into please say it now.

Can someone tell me where to find what error messages mean or enlighten
me as to what

Running Samba 3 in a FreeBSD jail
Hello,
I've been trying to get a solution (or at least an explanation) from the FreeBSD guys
at freebsd-questions lists, but I guess no one knew the answer.
I am trying to run Samba 3 (latest) in a FreeBSD 7.0 jail
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeBSD_Jail). It seems I cannot convince Samba to answer
NetBIOS broadcast requests and therefore Windows machines cannot browse it directly
by name

Response too big for UDP, retry with TCP
Hello,
I am trying to join a Samba 3.0.24 server into an ADS domain, which is
served by two Windows 2003 servers (let's say srv1.domain.local (192.168.1.1)
and srv2.domain.local (192.168.1.4)). I am running Samba on a FreeBSD 6.2
machine and I have established an OpenVPN connection to the ADS network
(tunneling). I have this in my resolv.conf:

Grouping columns
*Hi @ all,
I have a question concerning the possibilty of grouping the columns of a
matrix.
R groups the columns alphabetically.
What can I do to group the columns in my specifications?
The script is the following:*

R package Forecast
Hello all
First of all I must emphasize that I am fascinated about Forecast package.
However I have difficulty to execute 'ets' procedure. After I write code:
a<-read.table("test.txt", sep="\t", head=T)
b<-matrix(a[,3], nrow=5, ncol=12,
dimnames=list(c("2005","2006","2007","2008","2009"),

Extending a data frame
Dear all,
all data I am talking about can be found at
<http://www.metaanalyse.de/tmp/test.dat>.
The R-code is located at <http://www.metaanalyse.de/tmp/test.R>
I'd like to plot the frequencies for status against year.
Typing table(tmp$year) it can be simple seen that some years are
missing, e.g. 1975-1978, 1981 etc.
Using xyplot to display the data I do not like the fact

Dropped calls
I have an Asterisk server with 3 TDM400P cards. 9 FXO and 3 FXS ports.
It also has 2 Astribank-8 units connected. The customer is having calls
dropped at random intervals but several times a day. Could this be an issue
with Interrupts with the 3 cards?
I am also having a problem sending and receiving faxes when they are
either connected to the Astribank or to an FXS port on the TDM

utmpx bug in openssh-2.1.0p2 using Solaris 8
Hi,
I've installed openssh-2.1.0p2 on a Solaris 8 host (SPARC). The sshd
corrupts utmpx/wtmpx when a client connects to this machine. Observable
error:
$ who
who: Error --- entry has ut_type of 28265
when maximum is 9
It can be repeated and is attributable to the login done by sshd. Now,
Solaris has only utmpx/wtmpx and not the old utmp/wtmp. It get's worse
as more logins take place

How to use tcltk?
Hallo Tk experts,
the Tcl/Tk package allows to define very nice widgets for starting
R functions, for printing results and for interactive parameter input.
tkdensity.R and tkttest.R demonstrate this and both demos explain
how some of the tk functions can be used.
For constructing new widgets I would like to see further examples
showing Tcl/Tk package in action. Therefore my question:
Is there a
