PC-Pine "Junk in end of group"
I am running PC-Pine under Windows XP, connecting via SSL to a Dovecot IMAP server (0.99.10-2 under Debian woody). When I open a mail folder (mbox format) in Pine I get the following non-fatal error: [Junk in end of group: pn=undisclosed-recipients al= dn=] A similar error was reported to comp.mail.pine as happening with a Lotus Domino server. Mark Crispin explained it as a server-side bug:

sftp-server (secure) chroot patch?
Hello, I know this chroot issue has been brought up many times before on this list. I saw that the contribibuted chroot-patch was removed from the contrib directory because it always was out of date. The main reason was of course was that sftp-server has to be run as root to be able to do the chroot() call? Most of you are against chroot (since it isnt in the src) but I believe a lot of users

"Destructive" utilities
The following threads suggest that the way to reclaim memory occupied by initramfs is to remove files from it: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&frame=right&th=c6cb846bba1a7aea&seekm=SAUO.51B.21%40gated-at.bofh.it#link1 http://seclists.org/lists/linux-kernel/2003/Dec/0707.html However, there is no way to do it using utilities provided by klibs. VC compile errrors on samba share, Win2K, after sp4
After I recently updated a win2k machine to service pack 4, I started getting strange compile errors in Visual C version 6.0, when compiling source files stored on a samba (2.2.8, linux 2.4). fatal error C1001: INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR (compiler file 'E:\8966\vc98\p2\src\P2\p2symtab.c', line 932) Please choose the Technical Support command on the Visual C++ Help menu, or open

VPN through BSD for Win2k, totally baffled
Scenario: FreeBSD box running IPFW acting as a gateway to private network. The private network is made up of entirely routeable IP addresses. External users running Win2k and XP on DSL connections with dynamic IPs. Goal: To have the FreeBSD gateway securely authenticate and encrypt the traffic between the outside users and the internal network. I've spent the last 3 days running up and

ASUS P4-TE
Hi all! I'm trying to install a suse-linux via network on a machine with a asus p4te-mainboard (BIOS-rev 1005). There is a known problem with some screwed up bios call that locks up the fdc which got "worked around" in recent kernel versions. I'm depending on the floppy because there is a file on it which is read during installation.

Thanks for help with hosts file
All (Tom especially), Thanks for correcting my hosts file faux pas. I think I now (kinda) know how this file is used. Can I use this to control what subnets can get NAT''ed out and back through the net zone? For instance, with nothing in it every network inside can get out without a problem. If I do specify networks in it, is it true that only those specified can get out and back?

nmbd question
Hi everyone, I know that there are issues with NetBIOS across subnets, but I was wondering: Q: If I run nmbd on a multi-interface Linux router, and allow it to listen on all interfaces, and pointing all clients to their respective router interface, can it effectively serve WINS to all subnets such that everyone can browse everyone? Samba-3.0 and the --with-msdfs compile flag
Hi all, First, I'm no longer on the list, so please CC me if you reply to the group. I've hunted around, but I cannot find anything about this. The --with-msdfs compile flag is not present in ./configure --help. Is dfs built now by default? OR - is it no longer supported? Special config needed to add other internal private class C nets?
Hi everyone, I have shorewall up and running fine, and have for well over a year now. Internally, we have a LAB and they need multiple separate private class C networks to do testing, etc. I built a router, so all of the private LANs can communicate - This seems to work fine. I''m confused about what do I need to modify on my FW to get everyone to communicate out, masq''ed to the

Am I reading this dump correctly?
All, This debug level 5 snippet looks like it tries several authentication protocols before settling on the NT LM 0.12 version. Am I correct in my thinking? Since we run with no less than Win2K in our shop, is there a way to specify the auth to use? The reason I ask, is some of my users are having problems - not all of the time - but enough to get them annoyed. They will get locked out of a

What's the best method - probably simple
Hi all, I'm testing out a pdf printer script I'm writing on a live samba system. I modify the script, but my changes do not seem to show up when I print. It seems like samba is caching the script. I do not want to restart samba (I'm guessing that will disconnect people), but I want to force samba to re-read the new script. I'm guessing I can HUP whatever smb process is open for

2.11.0 on ubuntu (hardy) inadvertently installed
Hi- Looks like this morning, I did the ultimate in foobar to a main prod box. I was using apt-get upgrade on the box and totally missed the fact that my entire R installation went from 2.10.0 to 2.11.0. I now have a bunch of pkgs that aren't loading due to the fact that they were built before 2.10.0 -- There's some *ancient* packages, like (sma) that I was able to figure out what we
