Samba: 32 or 64 bit
All Due to an application issue I need to let app support know whether the version of Samba we are running is 32 or 64 bit. We are running Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (64 bit mode). Aplogies if this is really obvious but I have looked many places with no luck. It was installed from a file containing Solaris packages - samba-2.2.8-sol8-sparc-local.gz Screenshot of pkginfo:-

Status of Samba3 Beta3
OK I am a 2.2.8a/LDAP user and have thus far been very skeptical about making the switch to Samba3. I have seen inconclusive evidence of Beta 3's success rate from the postings since its release. So my question is... Has anybody been able to get Samba3b3 to act as complete replacement for their Windows or Samba2.2.8a PDC? How about with an LDAP backend? Is it stable and bug-free enough

I'm new to SAMBA, so I apologize up front if I ask a dumb question! We upgraded from solaris 8 (samba2.2.8a) to solaris 10 and installed samba 3.2.4. When user tried to use samba, they got "Failed to open /usr/local/samba/private/secrets.tdb". I thought maybe the file just needed to be there, so I touched the new file into existence, and then they got this error: "ERROR:

I have installed Samba2.2.8a on a RedHatLinux 8.0 server. libpopt.so.0 Issue - RESOLUTION
Thanks to help from Christopher Barry, I found the solution. It turns out that this missing library, and many others, can be found on the Solaris Freeware Site (http://www.sunfreeware.com/) . I installed the POPT package and all works well. Thanks -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Lange [mailto:klange@ppoone.com] Sent: Monday, January 20, 2003 12:13 PM To:

File isn't in mbox format - Couldn't open INBOX
I cannot reproduce this error everytime, but it seems to happen when Outlook tries to delete the first message (the first message in the file, message on top) in the /var/mail/user file. I tried looking through the mailing list but came up blank. Is this a known problem? I can fix this problem by editing the file manually and fixing the file. If I delete the first 2 lines (in the example below)
