2.4.24 I/O error breakage
Twice in the past week (when things have previously been fine for a
year), a server has locked up spewing forth a continuous stream of
ext3 write errors. This is to a bog-standard IDE disk, only thing
on the controller, etc.
Nothing EVER hits the logs. Not a single error. Every process that
accesses the disk seems to fail. It looks like ext3 is failing every
I/O request.

Digium cards just for timing
Hi,
I've found that neither Michael Manousos patch nor ztdummy driver
do not fix musiconhold sound interruption problem up to acceptable quality
level. Sound is choppy here anyway.
It is my understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) that if I have
a Digium card in my asterisk machine, these problems should be gone
'cause those cards provide some reliable timing. So I have no

New system for recording - SCSI, SAS or SATA?
I'm in the process of specifying the hardware for some new Asterisk
systems which will be running a substantial number of conferences
with recording.
I was wondering what there is to choose between SCSI, SAS and SATA
disks, in terms of performance for this kind of application.
I will be using dual drives with kernel-based software RAID1.
Any advice from experience would be appreciated!

Hi Ben, David and Daniel ,
First of all happy new year. Based on advice of Greg K-H herewith a mail
about a number of Nouveau issues with my laptop.

have an issue with the driver after loading.
My configuration:

Cannot access IMAP from other computer on network
I am a newcomer to Dovecot so apologies if this is elementary.
I want to set up dovecot to allow other computers on my home network to
read emails on my desktop via IMAP. This computer is called arcadia.
dovecot is running and I can access the mail on the same computer with
mutt -f imap://ac at localhost.
If I use the above line on a different computer in the network it says

Traffic Shaping and Bridge
Hi All,
I''m using Shorewall 3.0.4 and I''m wondering if it is possible to do
traffic shapping on only one interface from a bridge.
The firewall has got 3 NIC, eth0, eth1, eth2.
eth0 and eth2 are bridged, but if I''m right, when you specify a traffic
rate for a link, you do it for the interface. In my case, eth0 and eth2
do not appear in the interface file, but it is

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set
it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun
project.
I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem.
Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the
Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always
despised them as a data

Prospective GSoC projects - 2019
Hi all
I'm a master's student from India. I'm very much interested in compilers
and infrastructure toolchains. I have been following llvm for past few
months, I like the scope of LLVM project and community behind it. I'm
hoping to participate in Google Summer of Code 2019 at LLVM. I have
intermediate knowledge of modern c++, boost libraries (proto, hana) and
basic knowledge
