select read/write access by user or group?
This should be simple, but I've been pounding my head against it for several hours, and I'm not getting the result I want. I'd like to be able to select shares, whether they are the root of a drive or /home/username and designate who can read and who can read/write. Does Samba have it's own groups to go with it's own users? I really can only use "security = user"

RE More help on ACL problemplease...anyone...anyone...Bueller?
Extract of smb.conf : valid users (S) This is a list of users that should be allowed to login to this service. Names starting with '@', '+' and '&' are interpreted using the same rules as described in the invalid users parameter. If this is empty (the default) then any user can login. If a username is in both this list and the invalid

Multiple simplifycfg pass make some loop significantly slower
Hi all, I am noticing a significant degradation in execution performance in loops with just one backedge than loops with two backedges. Unifying the backedges into one will also cause the slowdown. To replicate this problem, I used the C code in https://gist.github.com/sklam/11f11a410258ca191e6f263262a4ea65 and checked against clang-3.8 and clang-4.0 nightly. Depending on where I put the

I have seen an earlier thread (sometime in 2003) where someone was trying to write a code for the Silverman test of multimodality. Is there any other tests that can enable me to

Not sure if people are already aware of this, but it might save someone some time in the future. I''ve been tracking down the following error today, it''s rather unhelpful in telling you where the problem is in your manifests: # puppetd --test info: Retrieving plugin err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Could not intern from pson: Could not convert from pson: Could

Web service SOAP URLs started failing with 1.1.4 or using 1.1.2 security patch
Railers, I''m trying to figure out why invocations to my Web service URLs work with Rails 1.1.2 but fail both with Rails 1.1.4 (and 1.1.5) and when I apply the new 1.1.2 security patch to Rails 1.1.2. It looks like they are failing with SOAP clients but succeeding with XML-RPC clients. The URL that used to work is of the form http://localhost:3000/my_controller/ServiceName/api. When I

Is there a good doc that will help someone without much linux experience other than lots of /etc/init.d/servicename restart, using vi to edit the named.zones DNS entries and other similar stuff to configure an existing Samba server as a PDC with
