smbd using alot of cpu on HP-UX 11.11
Hello Danny Travis, I am assuming you are using generic Samba 2.2.3a version. We came across the problem and you can fix it by setting the cache variable on the devnm() system cal to 1. Just set the last parameter to the devnm() call in smbd/quotas.c to 1. ################################### # ./samba2.2/source/smbd/quotas.c # ################################### 912a913,919 > #ifdef

configure not detecting IRIX6
A couple of days ago I sent a message about trying to build 3.0.4 under IRIX6 and having "make" fail because smbd/quota.h could not find <devnm.h>. I got no suggestions as to how to work out what the problem was. I have now identified why the problem arose and that moves me to the next problem! configure is failing to detect that the OS is IRIX6. include/config.h does not

Quota support Samba 3.x and Solaris 9
Hi all, I am a bit confused about whether or not quota support is available in Samba 3.x under Solaris 9. I start configure with the options --with-quotas and --with-sys-quotas, but this results in the error: Compiling smbd/quotas.c smbd/quotas.c:932:23: sys/quota.h: No such file or directory smbd/quotas.c:933:19: devnm.h: No such file or directory smbd/quotas.c: In function

devnm.h problem with 3.0.4
I have been using 2.2.5 since soon after its release and all has been well. I decided it was time to go to version 3 if possible, so downloaded 3.0.4. This is on IRIX 6.5. I have tried to build with the same options as before, except I now have to use --without-ads and --without-ldap. However, when I try 'make' it fails on smbd/quotas.c because <devnm.h> does not exist.

tdb lock failures
We've just gone live with a file & print server, and are having major problems with Samba. When used out of hours, with all PCs switched on and connected to the domain, everything works fine. However, during the day, we have problems where users can't print to any samba-hosted printer, Access database applications (where the database is held on the server) won't work, or work

Compiling smbtorture
Is smbtorture a simple SMB client that is completely separate from Samba server? (I.e., can I use it to test, e.g., a regular Windows SMB server?) Or is it something that only tests Samba server? Anyway, I haven't had any luck compiling it. Any hints? Here is a transcript (this is on SUSE Linux Enterprise 9): cwu@cham6:~/tmp/apps/samba-3.0.14a/source> ./configure

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all, I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the hill' on this... Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco 7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are all on a separate LAN. There is

Setting random effects within a category using nlme
Hello, I will start out with the caveat that I'm not a statistician by training, but have a fairly decent understanding of probability and likelihood. Nevertheless, I'm trying to fit a nonlinear model to a dataset which has two main factors using nlme. Within the dataset there are two Type categories and four Tissue categories, thus giving me 8 datasets in total. The dataset is in

More info on: Solaris 9 + quota = configure script error?
See the mail below, I sent yesterday. When changing the text '*solaris*' in the configure script to 'solaris*', the configure and make is going just fine. In other words: the file include/config.h contains a define for SUNOS5 I don't wanna be a smart-ass, but looking at other packages which use the configure script style configuration, they mostly use 'solaris*' as

Printer issues with Samba 4.0.3 and compile time warnings
I have some issues with Samba 4, setting up printer shares and was wondering if they were due to compile time warnings, in particular I am getting errors like: ../source3/rpc_server/spoolss/srv_spoolss_nt.c:1734(_spoolss_OpenPrinterEx) Feb 06 13:00:42 linuxSBS smbd[647]: _spoolss_OpenPrinterEx: Cannot open a printer handle for printer \\server-name I have this on a new build Arch linux system,

3.3 and 3.4 compile failure on dbwrap
Hi All, I'm having problems compiling a newer version of samba (3.3.x or 3.4.x) on solaris 9. We are currently running 3.0.23d and have been putting off upgrading for far to long. I've tried gcc and sun studio 12 cc with the same issues when it comes to compiling dbwrap.c. I can't seem to find anything on google that's related to my issue. Here's my configure line when

Strange alterations to vim and related packages on KVM host
OS CentOS-6.2 with updates to present. I use git on this host to manage configuration changes and to monitor package alterations. This is not meant to be a security check. It is simply a way for me to easily recover from fumble fingered configuration changes. Yesterday git status reported that the following files had changed since the previous commit: # modified: ../usr/bin/gdb #

compile error on HPUX
Hi I am trying to compile openssh-3.7.1p1 on HPUX version 11.00 and 11.22. I ran the configure with "--with-dns" option ( I know it is still in experimental stage ). The configure ran ok and in compile time I got the error: gmake[1]: Entering directory `/net/ia64/lavasani/ssh/openssh-3.7.1p1/openssh-3.7.1p1/openbsd-compat' gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I.

Ports and WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS
Hello, I wanted to try the new c++ stuff, ie clang-3.2, libc++ and libcxxrt, so I used poudriere to build a jail setup for that ( WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS=yes in src.conf, CXXFLAGS+=-stdlib=libc++ and libsupc++.so.1 libcxxrt.so.1 in libmap.conf ), and started to build my normal set of packages ( see desktop.list ). Please note that I also have WITH_NEW_XORG=yes and WITH_KMS=yes, as well as using the
