force group broken in 3.0.14?
I've got some problems with file access control on a linux-server
with samba 3.0.14a compiled from a src-rpm. This is the method I've
been using for the past 5-6 releases. It's a redhat 8.0 machine
and the kernel version is 2.4.30. The problems seem to have appeared
since upgrading from 3.0.13.
Symptom 1: When using force group on a share, users from the two groups

Samba as ADS Fileserver
Dear All
I've been working at building a file server to provide file sharing for a
Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain.
Our requirements are for the Windows Server Administrator to be able to create
all the users' home folders in the Samba share and apply restrictive
permissions. Ie. User joe, //samba/joe$ or //samba/share/joe (Dfs), with
permissions for only the user "joe"

Where is the tdbsam password database file?
I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on
my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped
with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully
accessed shares. I just can't figure out where the password database
is located:
[root@box ~]# service smb start
[root@box ~]# setsebool samba_enable_home_dirs on

Joining Samba RODC, NT_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED

I have a problem when joining an Active Directory domain. In this

one remote city.
We join to main DC succesfully. However, we can not join to local

BIND9_DLZ CNAME Records Not Resolving from Windows Workstations
Hello,
In an effort to get MX and CNAME records working, I have migrated from
Samba's internal DNS to bind9_dlz. I am now seeing strange behavior where
CNAME records resolve correctly on the S4 DC, but not from workstations.
Please see the case below where I have foo.internal.testdom.com aliased to
google.com using a CNAME record. I do not understand why this is occurring

DsGetDomainControllerInfoW fails with level 2008+, works with 2003
Hello,
I stumbled on this problem while troubleshooting a time synchronization
problem. The Windows commands "w32tm /monitor" and "nltest /dclist:domain"
appear to both use the same call to query the domain for a list of domain
controllers. When the DC is Samba4 (2003 domain & forest level) these
commands complete successfully. After raising the levels to 2008 or 2008_R2

Failure demoting 2008_R2 DC (S4rc5)
Hello,
We are currently testing S4rc5 for an upcoming S3 to S4 migration. I am
able to duplicate this issue with both classicupgrade and a new provision
(both cases using internal DNS). I am able to join a 2008R2 system to the
domain and promote it to a DC, however I am unable to demote it. The
problem appears to be that the 2008R2 server fails replicating to the S4
DC. The specific error that I

Samba 4.0.9 running on centos 6.5 (64bit) share access issues
Hi,
We are running Samba 4.0.9 running on centos 6.5 (64bit) with SecureLinux disabled.
Having some share access issues, what are we missing to solve this puzzle?
We are attempting to get the MSDFS share working. Until we can fix this we cannot continue.

Samba server as part of AD domain keeps asking for username and password
Hello all,
I'm trying to set up my samba server rev 3.2.3 on opensuse 10.3 as a
member of the active directory domain, so that client connections can be
authenticated by the AD server. Unfortunately when I try to connect to
the samba server from a windows XP system, it keeps on asking me for
user name and password.
I've been reading through various howto's and descriptions but no

Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello,
It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same
behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for
this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a
much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance.

Unable to get primary group information when using AD authentication with samba-4.10.4
'wbinfo -a' is basically the same as logging in, but you should be able
to get a users primary group without the user logging in, this will
depend on what you mean by 'primary group'. On Windows, every users
primary group is 'Domain Users' and when you make a Unix computer a
domain member, Unix users get the same primary group by default. Before
Samba 4.6.0 there was

Access denied when setting permissions
I have a windows 2003 AD domain and a server joined to that domain.
Winbind is being used as an idmap. Most everything seems to work fine.
Winbind gets user info correctly:

Winbindd and SSH (just disconnects after login)
It looks like I've gotten the majority of things working in regards to
Winbind. Users are being authenticated by the NT4 PDC when connecting to
shares, but I can't seem to get things set up correctly to allow logging in
via SSH(OpenSSH_3.6.1p2, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090702f). It
appears as though I'm successfully authenticated by the PDC, but then the

winbind joins with domain name , not netbios name
Hi,
I am having a problem with Winbind:
First, some information ..
Domain name :TESTDOM
PDC's Netbios name : ubuntu
Samba version : 3.0.20 (lateset patches installed) with LDAP backend.
Linux : Ubuntu 2.6.10
Samba is running smoothly, with no problems.
I want to use Winbin, so I followed Samba HowTo - chapter 23

SMBD not authenticating against Active Directory
Hi,
Iam trying to setup Samba version 3.2.3 on Redhat (RHEL5) server to use
Active Directory for authentication. I followed the instructions from
article in following website:

Setup Winbind + Samba + Kerberos and it seems to work fine. I can see the
users in Active Directory through winbind as well as authenticate users

Join multiple CTDB managed Samba servers into Active Directory
Hi ,
I have set up a 2-node CTDB cluster serving NFS and CIFS authenticating
Windows and Linux users via Active Directory.
The setup works fine, except only one server in the CTDB-cluster is able to
join the AD domain at a given instance. If you manually add the other server
into AD, the already connected server gets disconnected. There is no
specific error message logged in /var/log/message or
