Samba - User Authentication
Hi Robert and List,
As you told me I upgrated to Samba 2.2.5 because I'm doing the test with a
machine which has RedHat 8.0 and this RedHat version comes with it....
Anyway.....
So I made the procedure step by step but I haven't found how to make my
Windows 2000 users (PDC) can access the Linux shared folder and this is
what I've done:
My smb.conf looks like this:

Problem with smbclient to Windows 2003 Server.
Hello!
I?m writing to you all on behalf of my working party, a group of students at
Chalmers Lindholmen University. We have been working on a problem for 6 weeks
but we have come to a dead stop. If you could help us in any way we would
remember it with gratitude and make sure it?s not forgotten!
We are wondering if someone can assist us with a dilemma we have regarding

samba-3.0.0 release won't authenticate
Hello,
This is the 3rd time I'm sending the message.
I've just upgraded from samba3-alpha23 to samba3.0.0 release. I'm
running samba with an LDAP backend and I used the convertSambaAccount
conversion script, and now the latest 3.0.0 ldap schema. The problem I
have is that no Windows user can authenticate against their home
directory, or any other machine. Authentication against the

ActiveDirectory authentication failures with pam_winbind on SuSE 11
Hi,
Facing issue with the authenticating users against Windows 2008
ActiveDirectory. Joining/leaving domain and getting user and groups (id
<user>, getent group <group name>) works fine. But PAM authentication
through pam_winbind fails with below error.

winbind pam trouble
Hi,
I just upgraded my member (fileserver) server (wheezy) from sernet-4.1
to sernet-4.2, to be ready for tomorrow's badlock outbreak.
Under 4.1 we used sssd, and now 4.2 with winbind. Everything seems to be
running good: wbinfo (-p, -u, -g, -t) all give the expected results,
same for getent (group, passwd, username)
File serving works, life is good. :-)
Last step: allowing ssh access

S4-Winbind dumping core on password
Samba4-winbind (sernet-samba-4.0.9) on RHEL 6.4 dumps core on password authentication for a domain user (su/sudo), and so domain password authentication fails.? The machine is a standalone server in a Windows AD (2008R2) domain.
PuTTY logins using GSSAPI work fine, kdestroy/kinit succeeds with AD password, but su'ing to the userid from a puttty session fails. The issue seems to be related to

problem with pam_converse with openssh protocol version 1
Hi,
My company decided to implement security restrictions lately and I was
to write more strict authorization modules for pam. One of it works
asking for some kind of additional security string (for example pin from
some kind of token). It is done by pam module, which asks calling
application to do conversation for him:
prompt_msg.msg_style = PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF;

pam_winbind fails to authenticate domain users on my debian wheezy domain member servers
Dear list members,
I am running a small active directory domain for my home network.
Everything is working as expected, except for the authentication of active
directory users on my machines running debian wheezy.
Here is my setup:
1) Active Directory Domain Controller is running on a raspberrypi
(raspbian) with samba compiled from source (v4-1-stable from git repository)
2) WIndows 7 machines

3.0 alpha23 ldapsam/group mapping issue
I just moved from using samba 2.2.5 using ldapsam on a mac os x server
10.2.5 system to samba 3.0 alpha23. I have this samba server acting as a
PDC. I would like to enable group mappings but am having an issue.
This is the first group mapping error I get when a user first logs in:
ldap_connect_system: succesful connection to the LDAP server

Dealing with Non-Standard Hours
A data set I obtained has the hours running from 01 through 24
rather than the conventional 00 through 23. My favorite, strptime,
balks at hour 24.
I thought it would be easy to correct but it must be too late on
Friday for my brain and caffeine isn't helping.
TIA for a hint,
Clint

kerberos auth fails in samba3.0 alpha23
Hi,
I build an alpha23 samba3.0 system in win2k AD domain. Just a few days
ago, it works very well. But in recent, I find it cannot work.
I am sure it is the reason for kerberos authority. When I kinit a ticket
successfully, it fails to run "smbclient \\Win2K-server\c$ -k", the
error message will be as blow:
Doing spnego session setup (blob length=109)

if you see >f it is doing something to the file. At least a
delta-xfer. If it was just a metadata change it would show cf. If
you see an >fc without a t then that is an example where rsync found a
file that didn't match even though the timestamps did. That isn't
supposed to happen very often.

ToDo List Notation
I just joined this mail-list, so I apologize if this has been discussed
before, but:
Has anyone suggested adding a "todo list notation" to Markdown?
Specifically, I'd like to see an open paren, brace or bracket, at the start
of a line, followed by a space, a "/", or a "X", followed by a matching
closing paren, brace, or bracket, followed by a space and more text

winbindd and pam error
Dear Members,
Today i upgraded my small domain which ran on debian 7 to debian 8. The
samba version does not change, it stays at 4.1.17
After the upgrade i noticed, that the ssh password auth does not work on
the member servers. Excerpt from the log:
Aug 18 14:46:31 medea winbindd[707]: STATUS=daemon 'winbindd' finished
starting up and ready to serve
