Understanding NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
[For those on both this and samba-technical - sorry for the duplication. I meant to send this here, but I experienced a user error. :-) ] I'm having a problem related to the NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND error and I am having a little difficulty discovering what this means. [root@monkey admin]# smbclient \\\\dapper\\dfs mypassword -U Myuser -E -W CISNET -D home\\staff\\fran -d0 -Tqca

Hi, I just upgraded from: samba-3.0.23d-1 to: samba-3.0.25b-3 After starting samba, I could no longer connect to any share, I get this error: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND I builded both samba rpm using the packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh script on Centos 4.5 Is there any big change in 3.0.25? I readed all releases notes and didn't found any cause for this error. Thanks Oliver Here is the

smbclient: Renaming file on DFS root fails with NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
If a file is stored directly on a DFS enabled share, renaming fails with NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND. The usecase may sound unusual, but a customer is using NetApp ONTAP 9, which by default advertises DFS capabilities for all shares, and he cannot disable it for policy reasons. I can also reproduce the issue with smbd and Windows Server 2012 R2 (haven't checked with other versions).

3.0.23 - different errors on solaris 8 (Error in dskattr...)
Hi, I just compiled samba 3.0.23 on our Sun Solaris 8 server. 3.0.22 was running fine and I used the same compiler options for 3.0.23. $ ./configure --with-acl-support --prefix=/usr/local/samba3023 --with-quotas --with-included-popt --without-ldap --with-vfs gcc version 3.4.2 GNU Make 3.80 Running make now throws a lot these warnings: [-snip-] Linking nsswitch/libnss_wins.so ld: warning:

Occasionly, IIS will return 404 errors for content that does infact exist. >From the samba machine, I captured the following: This is an example of the site http://www.mysite.co.nz/foo not working: [2004/11/04 09:30:14, 3] smbd/trans2.c:call_trans2qfilepathinfo(2353)

msdfs
Hello, Last week I submitted a problem with msdfs on samba. I didn't receive any reaction. I've also tried the samba-cvs version but this has also problems. We really like to use msdfs from samba, because we want to put all our homedirectories ( more than 4000 ) in one dfsroot. This is not possible with Microsoft's dfs because this has a limit of 1000 .... I didn't found this

Win2k Domain logons
Hi everyone. I just got a copy of Win2k in and have been messing with it. Have a question, and have searched the archives for the answer, but didn't find it. Can Win2k domain logon to a pre-3.0.0 samba server? Or di I need to get TNG running? I can get NT4.0 boxes to authenticate and login fine (Samba pre-3.0.0), but Win2k keeps complaining: "The following error occurred validating

FUD or foolishness? Windows XP Home and Samba

strange: failing upload of special profile-dirs
Hi to everyone, Something quite strange occured to me this weekend as we wanted to switch our network to w2k ads structure with a sambaserver as main fileserver running winbind. The windowsprofiles are supposed to reside on the sambaserver and the client successfully loads the initial profile. The first time the user logs on to his machine, he gets some default .msi-softwarepackages assigned by

msdfs root -- client error "refers to a location that is unavailable"
I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.28 to work as an MS Dfs root providing a share that links home directories to the actual servers they reside on. Unfortunately, when I access the share from a Windows XP client, and try to open one of the directories, the client gives an error that it "refers to a location that is unavailable". I've done a lot of searching, and found a number of

Problems with folder permissions
Hi, 1) Creating a Folder on a my samba share works in general via WinXP, but setting the permission doesn't. On the new Folder <right click>+<properties>+<security tab> doesn't show any selected check boxes. After selecting a check box + <Apply> doesn't "save" it. I have to do this a 2nd time and then it work. 2) Can't select the permissions

msdfs: links to shares not visible/accessible in dfs root
Hello list, I am trying to get a DFS share to work here, linking to a few Windows 2000, XP and NT machines. Using Samba 3.0.6 on Debian. I followed the instructions in chapter 17 of the official HOWTO collections and set it up like this: [global] ... netbios name = fileserver host msdfs = yes [dfs] path = /home/data/shares/postdfs valid users = @post force group = +post read only = No force

Using MSDFS
I've set up a dfs share according to instructions. There is one part of the instructions that I don't understand. I've checked the forum archives but can't find any examples which might help. In the Instructions section (4.1 of the HTML Samba Project Documentation), is shows how to set up the symbolic links in a DFS share, as shown below. I have 2 Samba servers (SMB1 and SMB2).

msdfs & full_audit issues
I'm having issues enabling VFS full_audit & msdfs. It works great on my non-root DFS servers. On my DFS root server, enabled full_audit will break DFS links. If found some reports of this from searching, but the users appear to have resolved the issue from upgrading (to older versions that I am using). I'm running Samba 3.6.9-167 on CentOS 6. Here is an except from the samba server,

msdfs root in [homes] do not work in XP
Hi We setup a samba server (3.02a ) under Debian, acting as PDC. Clients are w98 S.E. and XP sp1. Server name is box-p In smb.conf we configure: [clouds] ... [homes] ... msdfs root = yes We create dfs links in home directory of users : ln -s msdfs:box-p\\clouds shared When users log into PDC using an win98 machine they find "shared" in his home, and can access it. When users log

howto achieve 'hide unreadable' for msdfs symlinks
hi, on a samba domain member file server i'm using dfs root shares with multiple msdfs symlinks pointing to other shares (on the same server), which works fine. These linked shares have different access rights, therefore a user might have access to one linked share but not to another. Is there any option to hide msdfs-symlinks to shares that a user cannot read? (the same as 'hide
