SAMBA and multiple Windows NT and Active Directory Domains
To whom it may concern, I had originally sent the message below over a week ago. I haven't rec'd any response other than that Trevor Rickards is on vacation until May 2. Below is what I sent on April 23.... I've been investigating a problem configuring SAMBA 2.0.7 on Solaris servers properly. My basic questions boil down to: * Does 2.0.7 support authentication against *multiple*

NT PDC problems...
Hello everyone. I've got Samba version 2.2.2 running on Sparc Solaris 8 installed the sunfreeware.com package. I've configured the machine to be a PDC for a small windows NT 4 domain. My smb.conf file is below. When logging on from a workstation sometimes the login works fine, but most times I get an error saying the domain controller can't be found. When that happens I also get

Hi All, Can somebody help me set this up. I'm trying to set up a public folder on my SAMBA server which will let my users create their own folders to store their files. And not let everyone delete them. Following are the problems I'm having: 1) If I set the directory rights to 755 on /exports and share the /exports/public directory with ~/public set to 755 Users can't create

Activate DVI-I behind KVM on FX 5200
Hi, > > Try your luck here > http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/dri-devel The major problem is that there is no way to tell the nouveau kernel module to enforce a specific output. There is a video=XXX kernel parameter, but this only applies to the VGA framebuffer but not to the nouveau framebuffer. > BTW what is actual KVM switch device, vendor/product? This is an

Hello Samba Folks, I have downloaded the file samba-2.2.2-hppa1.1-hp-hpux11.00.tar.gz from your website, and have uncompressed and untarred it into the /opt directory of my hp 11.0 machine (as specified in the README) file. Unfortuantely, I find no directions on how to install it. I have looked at the following link: http://de.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/UNIX_INSTALL.html but the

Prefer -u not to change newer files.
Hi List, Quoting man page: In the currently implementation, a difference of file format is always considered to be important enough for an update, no matter what date is on the objects. In other words, if the source has a directory or a symlink where the destination has a file, the transfer would occur

Ugly echo cancel, with Bristuff/Zaphfc
I'm using bristuffed Asterisk with ISDN/ZAPHFC I have VERY ugly (outgoing) sound through ISDN/HFC if echocancel=yes in zapata.conf, but without echocancel I have bad (incoming) echo Through PSTN/FXO sound is ok with or without echocancel. Help! WinXP failed to logon via Samba
I got a NT PDC and an Samba server (ver. 2.2.3a) that participates in the domain 'NT_DOMAIN'. The Samba server provide file and print sharing to my private network, but it authenticates user indirectly via the 'NT_1' PDC. All the PC clients (Win98) were configured to logon to "workgroup" instead of domain. This has been always fine until some guies brought in XP Home

backend migration and Samba upgrade.
Short background : Due to Windows Seven deplaoyment we have to upgrade Samba 3.0 to Samba 3.4 (actually less version but I see no reason not to go directly to 3.4). And due to SQL backend support aborted we have to switch from SQL backend to LDAP backend. What I have in mind to do this migration is the following : -install samba 34/OpenLDAP (I also change the machine in the meantime)

Unable to compile "Matrix" package
After upgrading to 2.5.0 under freebsd 6.2 I updated all the add-on packages in an R session via update.packages(...). R was unable to install the "Matrix" package because it couldn't find the package. Therefore I downloaded the *.tar.gz from the CRAN site and issued R CMD INSTALL Matrix_0.99875-1.tar.gz but the comilation ended in an error (see the complete attached

archive bit mapping problems with 2.2.3a
Hello, I've just tested the latest stable (2.2.3a) version of samba and see the same problem I was having with the archive bit mapping as I had with 2.2.2. I sent in a bug report and two emails to this list but no feedback yet. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this fixed. Please help. I am trying to do the following, new files get the archive bit set, and then the user or account

Samba Newbie Questions
Sorry if these are RTFM questions, but I have yet to find the answers... and one problem is the FM. ;) I have installed Samba on a FreeBSD 2.2.8 machine. I want it to mainly control a few printers for our NT domain, and if that goes well, the ability to access user directories 'directly' with Win9x and NT is enticing since the box's main purpose now is a mail server. Question 1: I

Migration from 3.0.23d to 3.4.5 failed
Hi, I have a problem migrating Samba, users can't be authenticated. It always says "user unknown or incorrect password". I have low skills on Samba so I followed the official HOW-TO install step-by-step, but now I'm stucked. Everything works well on the (old) 3.0.23d Samba server. I can't add a machine to the workgroup using the admin account (administrator). I
