Locked files stay locked - copy operation from XP to Samba fails
Hi,
When trying to copy 5000+ files from a client PC to a Samba server I have
the following problem. Halfway during the operation it hangs on always the
same file. Windows XP (SP1) gives:
Unable to copy file [filename]. Specified network name is no longer
available.
(I had to translate this from Dutch, so it is not the exact message).
When checking with smbstatus I get this:

Partially transferred files keep locked for a while after client disconnected ungracefully
Hi Experts,
When copying a big file from Windows to a Samba share working with the
normal TDB mode rather than CTDB mode, the Windows client disconnected from
the network ungracefully such as cable unplugging or network disabling.
Then, try to delete the partial transferred file from another client, we
will be prompted that another program is using this file. The lock can be
easily observed by

Locked files stay locked - copy operation from XP to Samba fails - FIXED
Hi,
After trying too long I fixed the problem below by reverting to the old
3c905 NIC. Problem solved but not understood.
I had a similar 3c2000 NIC in another Samba server and it also failed to
copy a large amount (5000+) of files. So that's two completely servers
(hardware and Samba / Slackware version) having the same problem with any
number of different clients. I couldn't imagine

Samba and file locking
Hi there,
Let me first tell you our setup....
I'm at a school (actually 2 but who is counting) with approx 1000 students in a NT domain. In the past we have had problems with students consuming more diskspace than was intended. First we tried to enforce a quota using kix, but the little 'rats' soon figured a way around that. To overcome that we started using an Linux setup with

File locking problem involving Samba, Clearcase, and Cygwin
We are having some problems in our company's test group that did not
exist when our Clearcase 2003.06 server existed on a Solaris 8
machine. Now we are running on RHEL 5.2 with Clearcase 7.0.1.3 with
Samba 3.0.28 (despite the fact that IBM has only blessed up to 3.0.24)
and running into some file locking issues with some scripts our test
group runs. I am hoping that someone might have some

Tablegen definition question
Hi,
That's what the DecoderMethod is for. Similarly ParserMatchClass for the
asm parser and PrintMethod for the asm printer:
def CondCodeOperand : AsmOperandClass { let Name = "CondCode"; }
def pred : PredicateOperand<OtherVT, (ops i32imm, i32imm),
(ops (i32 14), (i32 zero_reg))> {
let PrintMethod = "printPredicateOperand";

ACL Problems with Samba and ADS Integration
I am running a Samba Box as a Domain Member in a Windows ADS Domain (Windows Server 2003). The Box has joined the ADS domain and the kerberos authentication works, I can see "smbd" processes running with AD user accounts.
But I can not set ACLs on the directories or the files located on the share. If I change them using Windows Explorer, they either will be ignored by samba, or I get the

Samba 3.3.15 Ignoring "Logon Path" and "Logon Home" to Disable Roaming Profiles
Hi All,
I have recently successfully configured Samba 3.3.15 and OpenLDAP as my
offices PDC.
I would like to disable the roaming profiles capability but it appears
that no matter what I said, it is being ignored by Samba.
First is my relevant snippet for the Logon Path and Logon Home being
empty as described in the documentation. Then, following that, is my
entire smb.conf -- please let me

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Test failures
Hi all,
I experienced some test failures under Linux, probably caused by r232936:
In the test SanitizerCommon-Unit ::
Sanitizer-i386-Test/MemoryMappingLayout.CodeRange the temporary test
file was opened write-only, but was read from, what subsequently
failed:

Roaming profiles brings error with prf*.tmp files
We have an Apple OSX 10.3.4 Opendirectory (LDAP) Server with an SAMBA

When a PC log off, the profile will be copied to the server and brings the
error message that the files prf*.tmp can?t be copied to the server.
This error message occours not every time and

Disabling locking for DLL files
Hi all,
I'm trying to run a program off a network drive, however it insists on
locking the DLL files it loads, so that no other process can access
them (even read-only.) This means that only one person can run the
program at a time, as opposed to the entire office running it at the
same time.
It looks like the option "share modes = no" will solve this, but before
enabling it for

I am running Samba version 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6. When I run smbstatus, it

bug.
This is a run of smbstatus where it coredumps, and afterwards, a gdb
session.

DENY_MODE problem...
Hello!
I sent this message to samba-technical yesterday but as I saw no response
(not even a RTFM ;), I'm crossposting.
I just need some help to track down this bug. I can write a patch if I can
find the guilt...

Dear everyone,
Your code is slow and you are interested in performance optimization for
scientific software? Figuring out where’s the bottlenecks guided by
performance evaluation tools.
If you are interested in porting your code to a HPC hardware platform and
architecture, than OpenACC as a user-driven directive-based
performance-portable parallel programming model might be a solution.
