Unable to start Firefox/Mozilla after yum updates
Since installing the latest yum updates a couple of days ago, I'm unable
to start Firefox or Mozilla. Both fail silently with no messages printed
to console. This is a 32-bit dual Xeon box running Centos 4.2.
Here's what i've tried so far.
- uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and mozilla packages with yum.
- deleted my mozilla preferences (~/.mozilla) in case of a corrupted

Sennheiser is a reputable brand. The model you cited is in their lowest cost series. I have sold a number of these systems over the years. Their first generation (not G2) were problematic in not being very durable. I don't have as much experience with the G2, but the few we have sold have worked fine for several years.

Long URLs - New to Mongrel
My rails web app (rails 1.2.1) uploads an image from a Java applet by
encoding it into the URL. This works fine when I''m using Webrick. I''m
trying out Mongrel today, and I''m getting an error in Safari that
says ?lost network connection? (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005). I get
something similar in Firefox. Is there a way to make Mongrel accept a

File sharing permissions w/ Win2k
I need help configuring Samba v3 to do file sharing with Windows 2000pro and XP through SWAT. I've listed my user groups in the read, write, and valid fields of my share's parameters page. My security level is set to USER, and read-only option is set to NO. From any Windows workstation I am able to successfully map a drive to the Samba share; however, I can not write to it ("Access

Newbie question ... fallback mounts
Attached is my config file. The purpose is to interrupt my regular

externally).
I use ezstream to play the pre-recorded stream ID.
I never hear the stream ID while listening to the stream. (There is a
10 second break in the stream once per hour) What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Shorewall 2.3 problem (repost)
Hi to all. I recently upgraded to shorewall ver 2.3 from 2.0 so I could explore the multiple ISP/dual default route setup feature of version 2.3, I also upgraded iptables from 1.2 to 1.3 (rpm-based install) but when I tried to start shorewall it terminates and I noticed it''s giving me this error

Repost: brainspl.at tutorial and lighttpd .10 crashes
I just got a new Debian Sarge server and followed the brainspl.at
"Debian Lighttpd Rails Stack" tutorial.
The only place I deviated was the version of Lighty. The page uses
1.4.7 and I spotted that 1.4.10 was available. I installed that and
couldn''t get anywhere. Lighty died on first access from the test
rails app, and even from a ultra basic static config. No log, no

Samba and Encrypted File Systems - Linux (repost)
Hi everyone. just thought i'd reword by previous message about ENCFS and
Samba. I guess what I'm trying to find out is can Samba work with any
encrypted file systems? Does anyone have any experience/advice on this? I
want to be able to see the Linux encrypted file system from a windows
computer when the EFS is mounted, but not be able to see it when it isn't
mounted. Right now,

REPOST: Simultaneous Share Access via NFS/SMB
Did not get a response so I am reposting.
I have a share that has been exported via NFS as well as shared using
Samba 3.0. On the Windows side, all authentication is currently done
using Winbind and Active Directory. On the standalone Samba server (also
authenticated using Windbind) where the exported NFS resides, I have the
same local Unix user (identified by the same name and UID/GID) that

folders of path - platform independent (repost)
Hello, (sorry re-posting due to typo)
I'm attempting to get the folders of a path in a robust way (platform
independent, format independent). It has to run on Windows and Linux and
tolerate different formats.
For these: (The paths don't actually exist in Linux but you get the idea.)
Windows:

qt with df<1 (repost)
Sorry about the html-formatted message. Here it is again in plain text.
Hello,
The function qt returns NaN for degrees of freedom <1. For example:
> qt(0.5,0.5)
[1] NaN
Warning message:
In qt(p, df, lower.tail, log.p) : NaNs produced
But qt(0.5,0.5) should be 0, since the distribution is symmetric.
> pt(0,0.5)
[1] 0.5
It actually fails with any value, as long as df<1.

Repost - Problem with file name ending with dot "."
Hi,
I map a folder, for example /tmp, to Samba share folder by using
"mount -t smbfs -o username=...,password=... //sambaserver/sharename /tmp"
then rsync another folder with samba folder by executing
"rsync -uvr --progress /Apps/ /tmp".
/Apps is just example.
If the file under /Apps has trailing dot in its name, for example "abc.",
