Samba wins problem
Hello there,
From digging the archive - it looks as if this was discussed here earlier
however I could not find a decent solution to my problem.
The problem is that I keep seeing the following errors on my nmbd.log:

Name Resolving bug in Open SSH 3.0.2
Hello there,
In OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 there is a strange name resolving bug:
/etc/nsswitch.conf shows:
hosts: files dns
When I am trying to connect to a host that is in /etc/hosts using the
hostname, ssh tries to first resolve this name using the dns, regardless to
the resolve order in /etc/nsswitch.conf, if the dns is timeout or the
machine is not connected to the Internet at this time -

When I am running ssh netinst -v -v -v
the last line I could see is: ssh_connect:

Logging out OpenSSH while there is a running job on the background
Hello there.
Sorry for bothering you regarding this, but I am really looking for a
solution to this problem, maybe you saw it in the SSH mailing list... but
just in case...
I remember you tried helping me once... If you could at least tell me who
should ask regarding this issue, that would be quite a nice start...
The problem:
I have noticed that when I am forking something to the background

Name Resolving bug in Open SSH 3.0.2 (Addendum)
Almost forgot...
I already reported this but a few months ago when I was using openSSH 2.9x,
it's the same bug.
And no - it's not the server end that is stalling me on a revese lookup:
1. I was doing ssh localhost, localhost resolves perfectly, the same for
127.0.0.1 (reverse)
2. ssh -v shows me:
debug1: Reading configuration data /usr/local/etc/ssh_config
debug1: Seeding random number

Race condition when setting flags (\Deleted) + expunge quickly, leaving mails not deleted
Hello.
I seem to have found a race condition, when setting flags on multiple emails
rapidly. 5 commands including login to reproduce. Problem found using mutt in
real world usage.
Seems to happen both with UID STORE 1:3 and UID STORE 1,2,3 ..
I have tried with the following packages, with a minimized config in a

Samba4 and idmap backend (ad/rid)
Hi,
I eventually managed to install and join a Samba4 server as a member in an
AD environment but I have a problem with the id command.
wbinfo commands work but when I launch id command with a domain user I get
"user unknown".
Here is my smb.conf (Took from Samba Wiki) :
idmap config *:backend = tdb
idmap config *:range = 70001-80000

What are they trying to do here?
Hi!
I?m new to the list, and I?m not really having a ?problem?, but I?m seeing
something in my log files that I wonder if I should be concerned.
I?ve been using Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4) on my Fedora Core 4 (kernel
2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) machine from quite some time.
For the last few days, I?ve been seeing this in my daily ?Logwatch? e-mail:

Samba 2.2.5-10 and Win XP SP1
Hi all,
This is my first try on Samba as a PDC.
I have managed to setup Samba as a PDC for my home network. The Win98 pc
connects and validates no probs, but not the Win XP pc.
The acc on the linux system has been created and is fine as well as the
samba passwd's. The XP pc is 'changed' onto the domain with no errors,
with the user name that will be used by the user to log on the

ACL problem with WinXP and Samba 2.2.5-2.2.8
Trying to add users using security tab i WinXP doesn't work for us, no
users are added. Existing ACLs are possible to change and delete.
This behavior has been identified with both Solaris 2.6, Linux 2.4.9-31
with XFS, Samba 2.2.5 and 2.2.8. I'm attaching global part of out
smb.conf and a snippet from the log.
Our users are in an NT domain and in NIS.

Fwd: ASTCC - INUSE Flag
Hi all. Just to update list and increase the "souls-save" database.
The patch solved the problem. Now I have an asterisk-1.2.0-beta1 with
asterisk-perl-0.08 and mysql-server-3.23.58-16.FC2.1 machine working
fine with ASTCC and "inuse" flag.
The link of the patch is: http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=5400
Best regards to all you in the list.
Ricardo Poppi.

DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS when trying to join domain
Hi.
I've a Samba 3.4.7 running on Ubuntu 10.04 configured as PDC.
It has always worked but lately these months strange things started to happen: clients cannot join the domain anymore.
I had to reinstall a computer but when I tried to add it back to the domain I get this error message in Windows XP: DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS.
It seems windows cannot get server name via dns?
The samba server runs
