Page caching for urls with dots
hi everyone, I have a pesky problem with page caching, sorry if it sounds dummy. Whenever I''m caching an url like /controller/argument.with.dots instead of getting a saved page like /public/controller/arguments.with.dots.html I get /public/controller/arguments.with.dots which makes the webserver confused as to how to send it (it gets a Content-Type of text/plain instead of

Signal 11 on activity from XP SP2 clients (Samba 2.2.8a on SuSE 9.0)
I've got two brand-new, fully-patched XP SP2 clients who are suffering a mysterious malaise. These two machines will cause a smbd panic when printing or accessing files on a somewhat random basis. Now, the puzzling thing is that three other XP SP2 clients, including one of the exact same configuration, have no issues whatsoever. I've basically ruled out hardware failure on the server,

problem with remotefile definition
Hi, I''m exploring Puppet and have hit a rather weird problem. The puppetmaster server is running CentOS4, fully updated, with puppet installed from the dlutter RPM repo, version 0.20.0-1.el4. I tried adding the remotefile function definition from http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/installation.html in /etc/puppet/manifests/utils/remotefile.pp but when I start

Using survreg for Tobit
I am using survreg from the survival package to run a left censored tobit model on “non-survival” data. I have to four questions that I hope someone can help me with: 1) Is there anything I should take into consideration when using frailty() to estimate random intercepts? 2) Is there anyway of extracting the estimated intercepts produced by survreg when using frailty()? 3) Can someone point

nlme package - unbalanced data and Croissant (2008)
Dear listserv members, In Croissant (2008) “Panel Data Econometrics in R: The plm Package” the authors seem to indicate that the nlme package for R cannot correctly handle unbalanced panel data: “Moreover, economic panel datasets often happen to be unbalanced (i.e., they have a different number of observations between groups), which case needs some adaptation to the methods and is not

Alpha Two? (Impatient fan seeks news)
According to THIS: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/update.html "Alpha Two is due out on December 1st" And according to THIS: http://lwn.net/Articles/11775/ "we've already got some fantastic plans for Theora Alpha Two." Believe it or not, I'm actually restraining myself from jumping up and down yelling "where is it!?! where is it?!?"...but I DID want to

Lingering status?
Is it expected that MiddleMan.ask_stats will return a status for a worker that has been MiddleMan.delete_worker''ed? The worker isn''t showing up in MiddleMan.query_all_workers, so it seems that is shouldn''t have a status either. Is there a way to define a callback that is called at deletion, to reset the status, or do I need to write my own method to reset the status

messages lingering in .Trash/new instead of .Trash/cur
We're running Dovecot rc15 on Solaris 9, providing IMAP access to e-mail stored in Maildir++. I've noticed that a significant number of message files are currently sitting in the directories ~/Maildir/.Trash/new/. I would have expected that all messages in .Trash would be in the /cur subdirectory (as most are), and I'm not sure how they're landing in /new. If I connect to

Lingering WinXP SP2 issues
After apparently flawed testing, we rolled out SP2 for XP this week as samba seemed to be able to handle printing acceptably in recent versions. Once we rolled it out, we started getting reports of many users receiving the error :A policy is in effect on your computer which prevents you from connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system administrator." on a select few

X32 bugs around "cannot select" lingering around
Hi, There's several, to my eyes, somewhat related looking bugs: Bug 36743 - Cannot select: X86ISD::CALL ICE with -mx32 -O2 -fno-plt https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36743 Bug 34268 - JITting of x32 code on x64 fails with crash or instruction selection error. https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34268 There's unfortunately been no investigation. I'm asking because I hit

AD Replication issues due to lingering objects
Do you tnink I can simply apt-get install from that repo to upgrade the current samba? Going down the demote/re-join route, I'm encountering problems demoting the DC: Deactivating inbound replication Asking partner server DC1.mydomain.local to synchronize from us Error while demoting, re-enabling inbound replication ERROR(<class 'samba.drs_utils.drsException'>): Error while

Tcl/Tk window lingering too long
I want to set up a simple Tk dialog interface to a function in R, such that when the "OK" button is pressed, the dialog window is destroyed and then R does its work on the data/parameters/whatever that were entered in the dialog. The function "test" below is a simple prototype. My problem: upon running test() and hitting "OK", R does its work (ie, computes

AD Replication issues due to lingering objects
We are trying to migrate away from out Windows 2008 R2 server to a Samba based DC. At this point we have both the Windows server as a Samba server as DC in the domain. After a while, we noticed that changes from the Samba server were not replicated to the Windows machine. Further investigation show that there are 2 lingering objects that prevent replication, and it has been for quite a while. The

Broken IMAPS Connects Create Lingering imap-login Processes
Hello everyone, we are running a central server (CentOS 6.5, dovecot-2.0.9-7.el6 with a small patch to disable the IMAP CREATE command, and openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.7) and distribute standard client software to customer( site)s. Lingering dhclient issue
I recently reconfigured some CentOS 4.3 systems that were using DHCP to use static IP addresses. At the same time, the systems were moved to a new VLAN. Here is the approximate sequence of events that took place: 1. ifdown eth0 2. edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 with static IP address 3. wait for network folks to reconfigure switch 4. ifup eth0 I may have

strangely lingering lock, samba 3.0.22
Hello everyone, Today a user (call them 'abc') came to me and described the following sequence of events: 1. They opened an Excel file, made some changes, saved it, and closed it. 2. They tried to open it again and got an error dialog within Excel that says this: File in Use FooBar.xls is locked for editing by 'abc'. Open
