smbfs + large UID's
[ I'm not on this list, so please include me on the replies! ] Hi, I've discovered (at least for me and some colleagues;-) the following problem on Linux@x86 (2.4.*): When we try to mount FS's via smbfs with the option uid=<my_uid> this uid can only be 16bits wide:-( But we have uid's larger than 65536 which than end up beeing interpreted as %2^16 --> not allowing

MIgrating users to new domain
We are currently setting up a new domain with samba 3.5.10 and openldap 2.4.23 (based off of Centos 6.3). The current domain is running older versions, 3.4.7 and 2.4.15 respectively. We are changing domain names also. There is alot of layout changes and the way it works. One change we are implementing is combining all the BDC's/home servers into one and moving them to the PDC. On the old

OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all, We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now, most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers (Japan, Korea and China atm). I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation

Winsorizing Multiple Variables
Hi All, I want to take a matrix (or data frame) and winsorize each variable. So I can, for example, correlate the winsorized variables. The code below will winsorize a single vector, but when applied to several vectors, each ends up sorted independently in ascending order so that a given observation is no longer on the same row for each vector. So I need to winsorize the variable but

Supported Hardware Solution Recommendations Please
Hello All, We are moving all our servers to a colo facility and need a solution for firewall / QoS that can handle multiple subnets of IPs routed to it. We expect to ramp up to a high volume of traffic as we migrate our users to Citrix. Unfortunately, the higher-ups are not willing to go with an ''unsupported'' product even though I can demonstrate failover, etc. So, I figure

colour highlighting inputs and outputs in the R terminal?
Dear all Is it possible to get basic colour highlighting for inputs and outputs in the R terminal? I am looking for something similar to what GUIs provide, such as JGR and (I think) the Windows R GUI: colouring all inputs in red, and all outputs in blue. All this in a colour-aware console (in my case, on Linux). I've been looking into xterm256 and highlight, but I am sofar unable to do with

Can't get dropbook to work on FC6 wine
I recently upgraded to FC6, well, I actually did a clean reinstall. Anyway I did a yum install wine as root and it went through with no errors. I tried to run dropbook and it draws the window and some times the controls but it doesn't respond to mouse clicks except for the close button to which I get the not responding dialog with the force quit option which I choose. dropbook did run under

File/dir user permissions on Samba fileserver in DC
OK, use this smb.conf. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING, DO NOT ADD ANYTHING. This is based on what you have posted. If WG isn't your workgroup, change it to your actual workgroup If WG.LOCAL isn't your realm, change it to your actual realm NOTE: if '.local' is your TLD, then turn off Avahi if it is running. [global] workgroup = WG security = ADS realm = WG.LOCAL

optim() and resultant hessian
R users; A question about optimization within R. I've been using both optim() and nlminb() to estimate parameters and all seems to be working fine. For context (but without getting into specifics - sorry), I'm working with a problem that is known to have correlated parameters, and parameter estimation can be difficult. I have a question on optim() - I'm using

You still do not seem to have set up the smb.conf correctly, if you are having problems following the wiki, please say so and if possible give examples.

Problems with crashing IBM X3630 M3/ZFS
Hello. I've got a quartet of IBM x3630 M3 with one that is frequently hard locking under heavy NFS load. I am running 9.0-RELEASE with all the patches from freebsd-update. My problem machine has 8 16 core clients, each doing IO intensive tasks connected to it via a Procurve and the onboard igb0 interface. Mostly network reads, typically 10MB read per MB written. When the machine locks

O_CLOEXEC-like functionality for llvm::raw_fd_ostream
Hello all, I am looking into using LLVM streams more extensively in LLDB (which currently rolls it's own stream classes). One of the things that's missing for me to be able to do that is the ability to open a file with the O_CLOEXEC flag (to prevent us leaking file descriptors into the debugged process). So I tried adding a F_NonInheritable flag to the raw_fd_ostream constructor, which

Help with Data Transformation
Greetings, I am new to R and am having trouble with parsing a file with the following characteristics: * Individual results for a single sample are written to multiple lines. * First 16 columns are constant from sample to sample. * Remaining 10 need to be matched up (cross-tabbed?) o (the exact contents for the remaining 10 vary from sample to sample, as indicated in

%g Variable of smb.conf
Hi, I planned to use the %g Variable in the "template homedir" section, but this Variable only gives me the gid, not the name of the group as mentioned in "man smb.conf". Anyway, if I use %g or %G no difference. [global] interfaces = 127.0.0.1 eth0 bind interfaces only = true workgroup = WG realm = WG.LOCAL security = ads password server = vmix7.WG.LOCAL
