Missing components on configure
I'm currently running redhat 7.3. Something happened where I can't configure samba in order to compile. I know some older kernels were removed from the system, so I'm not sure if that's the cause of it all or not. When I try to configure samba now, I get a lot of checks not found. For example: checking for strerror... no checking for chown... no checking for fchown... no checking

Locked not _all_ share, only one of it's folder. In logs i don't see any errors(for time of user call, may be errors in log was some times before). I use

Patch for systems with no setreuid()
Sorry if I'm duplicating an existing patch, but... On systems with no seteuid() that have setreuid() there is an emulation, but if both are lacking (but we do have setresuid()), nothing is done. The following seems to be right, but I've only got one machine (running an ancient version of HP-UX) which needs this so it may not be general: --cut-here-- --- config.h.in.orig Thu Jun 7

Name Resolution, Pinging
I am running redhat 7.3 with Samba 2.2.4. I was wondering if there was a way to use Samba to resolve my IPs instead of having to add all the entries to my /etc/hosts file? For instance, I would like to be able to do `ping acormany` instead of `ping <IP Address>`. We are currently using WINS on a Windows box to resolve the IPs. As of right now, I can `ping acormany` on a Windows system, but

configure.in fixes for 2.9.9p2
configure.in patches for 2.9.9p2: 1. Allow --with-pcre to take a path specifying the root of the PCRE install (ROOT/include, ROOT/lib) 2. Ditto for --with-zlib 3. $no_libnsl and $no_libsocket can be determined programmatically 4. Check for innetgr, getspnam, and util in the default $LIBS before checking in -lrpc, -lgen, and -lutil, respectively 5. dirname() is in -lgen on some

[PATCH 2/3] syscalls: Add syscalls needed by arm64
arm64 uses generic syscalls, and does not include the "noat", "noflags", and "deprecated" syscalls. i.e. __ARCH_WANT_SYSCALL_{NO_AT|NO_FLAGS|DEPRECATED} This patch adds the syscalls needed for klibc to run on arm64. NFS cache flush tester
http://dovecot.org/tools/nfstest.c I wrote a test utility that tests different ways to flush NFS attribute cache and data cache. Please test in your NFS setup and show me the results, so I can make Dovecot v1.1 works well with NFS. Run the test several times (3 should be enough) to make sure the output stays the same, because the attribute cache flushes might incorrectly say "OK". And

sftp-server and chown
Hi, I've already discussed this issue in SSHSCI's SSH 2.2 context on ssh at clinet.fi list. My standpoint is that it's wrong and meaningless to perform chown in sftp-server as the file is most likely copied between systems with distinct accounting system where user is not necessarily (and even unlikely) has same numeric user id. The original bug report was that user couldn't

Samba Tuning
I've been searching all over online, including man pages and anything else I could get a hold of. I am trying to tune my Samba to perform better. Here's the story: I have tested some software, running the server on Windows 2000 server and my PC as the client(Windows 2000). The results is Windows+Windows ran around 3 seconds. Then on the 'exact' same box I loaded Redhat 7.3 and

Worrisome race condition involving half-transferred files
Rsync people, Tell me if I'm wrong, but rsync seems to have a very serious race condition that would make it risky to transfer files into a directory writable by someone you don't trust if permissions are going to be granted to other people on those files. The rsync receiver creates a half-transferred file with 600 or 700 permissions; then the receiver writes the data and finalizes the

configure.in reorder patch
Feb 12 CVS (sort of, see warning below) I've had to change around some of the code in configure.in to get some platforms to compile with the --with-tcp-wrappers option. Basicly I have set it up to check headers check system libraries check for optional packages check functions I have also tried to clean up the library order as it is important on some platforms. This patch works on Solaris
