How to "recover" the printer drivers?
Samba 2.2.8a-1, RH8.
... So, I had to reinstall. Fortunately I had a back-up copy. I've installed
everything and then went to back-up and brought back all the stuff from
/etc/samba and /var/cache/samba and all /etc/cups and /etc/printcap*.
Aparently samba is working corectly: All user/machine accounts are in place
winbind OK... It's just that although I've restored the /home/printers

Strange battery power shortage on an Unitek iZi UPS 525
Hi everyone,
I've been using nut 2.0.3 for more than a year on a Unitek iZi UPS 525
(which is a rebadged Mustek). Everything worked fine and last week, when
pressed by RENEL :-) I ran a battery test which showed the system to have
17min of back-up power (yes, still haven't figured out how to use
upssched...)
The system used for testing was an old PIII/500MHz/512KB cache, 256MB RAM (3

Maybe this will make it to the FAQ :-)
Hi Arjen,
I've just read the FAQ and got to the question: "Q: How can I make upsmon
shut down my system after some fixed interval?" Well it looked like the
question was there for me. :-)
You say:
Ask yourself this: why buy a nice big UPS with the matching battery and
corresponding runtime and then shutdown early? If anything, I'd rather have
a few more minutes running on

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please
help !
We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel
2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC,
the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer
server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5,
and Slackware 8.1,

Network printer question
Howdy Folks:
This may be slightly (but not entirely) off-topic for this list,
but I'm sure there are some real gurus out there who should know
this (and I've seen a number of related questions) so here goes:
We just got a new HP8100DN printer. The guy didn't want to let me
do the samba printserver thing, nor did he put it on a windoze box -
he put it directly on the network

"Printer settings couldn't be saved. Access is denied" problem on Samba 2.2.6
Hi Samba gurus,
I need your help for the problem of denying the change of the print
driver settings on samba. I have no any clue of this problem. Thanks for
any comments and tips.
Our institution has a windows 2000 active directory domain; I joined my
test samba 2.2.6 on a Linux box into domain as the file/print member
server. All the file sharing worked fine, but when I tried to upload

Printing NT to Linux w\Cannon bjc-4000
I am able to see my printer as a share. Well better put, I see four
representations of my printer: ascii, lp2, lp-mono, and raw. I tried
the naive thing and just selected lp2 and added the cannon bjc 4000
driver for NT. This didn't work. I get an error report:
%%[ Error: undefined; offending Command: K ]%% . . . a bunch of strings
that I don't understand. This does not look like the

adding printer driver to a printer
Hi,
I'm using debian woody with samba (2.2.3a-12.3). After installing
2.2.8a everything that worked, still works. What didn't work, still
doesn't work.
Sharing files works properly.
I'd like to share a printer via the samba server. When I go to the
printers&faxes share in explorer, no printers are shown.
Hereunder is my smb.conf, /etc/lprng/printcap, and the logfile

negative binomial regression
I would like to know if it is possible to perform negative binomial
regression with rate data (incidence density) using the glm.nb (in
MASS) function.
I used the poisson regression glm call to assess the count of injuries
across census tracts. The glm request was adjusted to handle the data
as rates using the offset parameter since the population of census
tracts can vary by a factor of

Win2k-->Linux-->Epson777 (smb.conf + /etc/printcap included)
I don't have a solution, but I do want to keep this thread alive until
we get it resolved. I'm in the same situation. I can print fine, but
it says that annoying message. Do you guys print to an LPD unix queue?
My linux print server is sending the job to a LPD linux box that is
connected to the printer local. (Our printer support requires it that
way).
Has anyone been able to
