Problems with snowfall
Guys,
Is anyone using snowfall? It seems that the last version is broken. sfinit
contains test code:
data("config", package = "snowfall")
configM <- as.matrix(t(config))
config <- as.list(configM)
names(config) <- dimnames(configM)[[2]]

Snow or alternative MPI packages on Windows
Guys,
I'm running R on both Windows & Linux. I'm looking at a number of packages
for parallel execution. It seems that the most used packages are "snow" and
"Rmpi".
snow seems more user friendly, but it doesn't run on windows. I see from
searching the mailing list that I'm not the first one to try it on Windows.
There was a message that kind of shed some

Have reduced something much more complex in my code to a simple test case.
I run the following and then resize the window:

Y = X^2

HSBC Banking
Hi,
This is a long shot, but does anyone have HSBC Internet banking working
with Centos-4?
Various fragments on other lists suggests that it works with Konqueror
but not for me. :-(

Problems with Rmpi and LAM 7.1.4
Guys,
I'm running LAM 7.1.4 and R/Rmpi on a SuSE 9.3 box.
When I do
>library(Rmpi)
The whole thing crashes with the following message:

No SSI RPI modules said that they were available to run.
This should only happen if you request an MPI thread level that is too
high (for example, none of the SSI RPI modules

Rmpi on Linux (SuSE) with OpenMPI
Guys,
I'm having troubles with Rmpi on Linux. I got it to work on windows, but on
Linux (SuSE 64 bit), using OpenMPI, I can't seem to get it to work :(
When I do library(Rmpi) I get the warning:

Interestingly enough all the examples from the snow tutorial (

unwanted conversion of date formats in 2.3.1 to character
good morning
I'm using R 2.2.1 on windows (2000/NT/XP) and trying to upgrade to 2.3.1
I am finding the curious problem of date/time data (both if stocked as date and as POSIX) that gets converted into character format whenever touched: it seems that date/time data just does not want to remain that way.
For example, a data.frame containing dates or POSIXct as row.names that is returned as

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team
I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10
installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers
The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server.
My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers
are using Samba to mount from.
Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8
server they are

In-place modification of a matrix
Hello,
Using the technique suggested here (
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2007-September/047028.html),
we can update a matrix in place (see example 1 below), with huge time and
memory savings.
Is it possible to tweak example 2 to update in place also? The only
difference is that the matrix is held within a new environment.
Thanks,
Simon

Problem with data migration and acts_as_tree
Hi, this is my first post here, my name is Lucas and I''m just starting
with rails.
For one of the first models I made (an accounts plan), I had some
example data in a CSV file, so I created this migration, the idea is
to detect the parent/child relationships according to the account
number, the code works right (if I insert some puts here and there, I
can see it), but when the migration
