rsync 2.5.6, No buffer space available error...
I have seen this error in many postings, but the solutions seem not to
apply in this case. This error happens during a small file transfer
(gif image) and after 75% of a 165G rsync job (the building file list
portion is complete.) Most solutions I saw were related to not having
enough RAM or running out of disk space. Check out the machine specs
below the error.

EXT3 Trouble on 2.4.4
All,
I know that there is no official port to Kernel 2.4.4, thus I may not get any
help, however I am hoping someone could point me in the right direction for
my problem. I am currently forced to use kernel 2.4.4 for reasons out of
my control (embedded board).
Here are the exact versions of everything I'm running:
ExT3 Version: ext3-2.4-0.9.6-248
Util Version: util-linux-2.11f.tar.bz2

unexpected dirty buffer
Hello.
On a server running 2.4.25, I have the two following errors in the
kernel logfile:
Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707)
Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707)
Should I worry about them (disk failure, filesystem damage) ?
Thanks.
As an addition what does the pair '08:11' means ? Is

ext3 involved in kernel panic in 2.6.13?
Dual Opteron system running ext3 atop drbd (network RAID) devices,
which, in turn, are atop LVM logical volumes. The underlying device
is hardware SCSI RAID via a LSILogic HBA. The kernel is vanilla
2.6.13 on a Gentoo-based system.
A panic occurred, which contains references to ext3 code.
I'm not sure how others manage to get these typed out, but I'm

hardware or software bug?
I had the following spat out by syslog on my (2.4.18-pre7-ac3) mailer /
web server:
Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:611: "!(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Lock)) != 0)"
One of its partitions froze hard--I've rebooted it, and I have an oops
which the BUG() triggered which won't decode at the moment, but I'll sort
that one out

Assertion failure in transaction.c
I am running RedHat 7.2 basic installation on a couple intel boxes with 2
CPU at 550 and 1G of memory. Hardware from different vendors , but
configuration is identical. Each box running Sendmail only and have mounted
tmpfs that use 512 Meg. This file system can be mounted/unmounted
dynamically. The file activity is pretty high. For example I was forced to
set file-max to 20480 and number of

ext3 corruption
Hello,
Over the last month or so, I've noticed the following error showing up
repeatedly in my system logs under kernel 2.4.18-ac3 and more recently
under 2.4.19-rc1:
EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,3)) in ext3_new_inode: error 28
I've now been able to capture the following Oops before the system went
down entirely:

a very stable Athlon machine for months, tried to move a 2 GB file from an ext2
partition to an ext3 and kjournald crashed. Here are the last reminants of my

rsync 2.5.0 bit length overflow
I'm seeing:
bit length overflow
code 4 bits 6->7
in the output of rsync 2.5.0 between two Red Hat Linux systems.
One is RH 6.1 (kernel 2.2.19-6.2.1, glibc 2.1.3-22), the other
is RH 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-13, glibc 2.2.4-19). Both systems have
rsync 2.5.0.
On the RH 6.1 box, I run this command:
rsync -v --stats -az -e rsh -H --exclude-from FILE /some/dir/. rh72:/some/dir/.

RH and packages
Dear colleagues,
I just upgraded to 1.4.0 version from RH RPM on a RH72 linux i686
machine. Maybe I am the only one, but when I tried then to install 2
packages (namely pspline and xgobi), weird things happened.
First on call of library(xgobi) or library(help=xgobi), all looks
good, but on call of ?xgobi, or data(PaulKAI), or when trying to look
at html help, the package seems empty. More

Hi,
By running some scripts on our target system for a while, I lost all means of access to the system. It seems that the kernel is crashed with the following error message:
Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:731: "(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Uptodate)) != 0)"
