I just installed samba 2.2.7 on Mandrake 9 with OpenLDAP support. I have set up OpenLDAP and everything is cool. When I try to add a user I get: [root@luna openldap]# smbpasswd -a jim New SMB password: Retype new SMB password: Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error Failed to add entry for user jim. I lost my bookmarks to the samba binaries compiled for Mandrake 9.0. I'd like to mess around with the 3.0 stuff. I remember there were 2 ftp sites that stayed pretty current. I'd like to add them to URPMI so I can update easily. Thanks Jim

I have added a machine account to /etc/passwd named luna$ and in smbpasswd named luna. When I attempt to join my Win2K box to the domain, I get this error. The following error occured attempting to join the domain: The account used is a computer account. Use your global user account or local user account to access this server. Hello, I am trying to migrate off a MS Exchange 5.0 server. I am using mailsync (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/) to copy the files to a Dovecot server, version 0.99.10.7. I am trying to change some ACLs on some files and directories. I have samba binaries with acl support compiled in. I am using an XFS filesystem. The Mandrake kernel supports acls by default. When I right click on the file in Windows explorer and change the permissions, I get an access denied error. I have successfully joined the XP machine to the domain. The strange part is, that it only wanted to be joined if it connected to the PDC and not the BDC.
